dmoz listing check

    how do you guys do a dmoz listing check i see in many online tools. do you simply dl the database or is there an official webservice i overlooked?

    you can download the rdf, but it's huge. Not sure about the listing check you are talking about. Why not just search DMOZ for the site you are looking for?

    I think we're looking for the method so it can be utilized in a tool...is that rightav1..?

    A tool like:

    is that what we're trying to find out av1 - HOW to accomplish this, so you can create a similar tool..?

    Hmmm... it returned a bad answer for the site I tried. (www.theknot.com)
    It would be pretty easy to write a script that just did a find on the rdf for the site. Then you could set up cron to download a new rdf regularly and it would always be updated.

    well thats not what im looking for. what im askin is if theres an official tool to query dmoz.org with an url to check whether its listed or not.

    your link gives a script for a directory site

    Apart from the tool AzAkers mentioned, I wouldn't know. You can try rebuilding the odp_script so you can query the dmoz listings. You can also find lots of information about dmoz at http://www.resource-zone.com/
