No,, not at any cost. Before showing in Top10 Google examine your site at million parameters. And so many factors works behind Top10 sites.

Do you actually have a Dmoz listing?
If you have, it should help... I've seen tons of sites, even poor quality half-abandoned, half-built sites that scored well due to a humble Dmoz link.

But I wouldn't bother with Dmoz anymore... I couldn't tell you a more obsolete directory.
It's been abandoned, I can't see why Google isn't improving it, since it's the biggest web company in the World. Clearly Google isn't paying much attention to it. I think from all Google products you should pay more attention to Google+, it should help you achieve higher rankings and it's a trendy new service...

Dmoz was once great, but I've been watching them for 10 years... clearly it's rusting at the edge of the road like a wreck...

DMOZ links may dump you a little PR juice but don't expect to see a top 10 google ranking just from some DMOZ links.

You're going to need quality backlinks if you want to achieve top 10 rankings..

I have read everywhere that DMOZ is THE link to have. Is that true? I have just submitted my site, I guess it can't hurt.

I have been submitting many sites to Dmoz for years and only ever got 2 listed. Personally i wouldn't spend too much time worrying about it. After all i know of many site that rank well without a DMOZ listing.

Dmoz is an authority directory so it is true that you are going to get benefit compared to normal directories.

I've submitted several sites to DMOZ, it seems to take quite a while to get listed and I think out of about 6 or 7 sites i've only had 1 listed

Not very important but it's so good to get listed there.

DMOZ links don't hold as much authority in terms of the SERPS as they did back in 06/07 - while they're still beneficial I wouldn't lose sleep over them...

    [h=2]DMOZ Links[/h]Dead as a doornail!

What Do you think about dmoz links and google ranking ?

if you have one, it is highly likely its been there for 5 years or more and I wouldnt delete it but dont hold your breath waiting for another one.

New site with only one link, can rank to TOP10 ?

YES! It depends on the keyword and the inbound link but it is possible. HIGHLY unlikely but possible.

If you're targeting something like: " best chemical for tall elm tree roots to clear my sewer lines" and you get a link from CNN THAT would have a good shot at top 10 probably#1 for that exact search

BUT if you're thinking texas holdem, unsecured credit card or home loans HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! ONE link from www.presidentobama.com wouldn't do it.
