Using round numbers. 1000000+ sites waiting for review. Last month 20000 new sites added net. 1000000/20000 = 50 months *if* no new submissions were received. Factor in that maybe 50% of new sites are found by editors and not submitted. New estimate = 100 months.

Reality is that your site may be reviewed tomorrow, 100 days time, or 100 months time. No-one can tell. But if it is not listed in 100 months less the 12 you have already waited, so 88 months time, ask again and maybe someone will look into it. ;)

Everybody is complaigning DMOZ here. Does anybody have successful stories? Or my article in my website "Submitting to Directory" is a waste of reader's time.

No, it's not a total waste of time...

I had my blog recently accepted after just 2 weeks.

My advice is don't worry to much about it.
    Submit and forget:)

Submitting a site that qualifies for inclusion is not a waste of time. Hanging around afterwards, waiting for something to happen, now that's a waste of time. Submit, forget, do something more useful.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Do yourself a favour, go to the Google clone and scout around, noting where listed sites have PR ZERO. That gives you a clue as to the effect. Also, which pages have PR7 to pass on? Not any of those anyone is likely to get a listing in. Some DMOZ pages have PR ZERO themselves (with or without the www).

You won’t hear from those who get their site listed, they have no reason to communicate in this forum. On the other hand, most who come here are trying to get a listing in ODP or have personal gripes with dmoz, thus you observe a very bias perspective.

True, and probably legitimate, but that is more the exception than the rule. ;)

I can only assume this, I can understand that during the directories early stages there are not much of categories for websites to be listed. Matter is the web has grown and many of the categories has not been updated, has been out grown or the editor has retired, outed or has ventured to a more luxurious place in his/her hobby neglecting their former categories. IMHO I find it extremely odd how disorderly some of the categories being abandoned just like that. It's just so amusing that they have started in certain categories they love and abandoning it, still listed in the categories, they went to flourish their careers in editing in higher form. What happens ? The submission gets piled up. The categories and sub-categories get outdated. Certain Editors of categories should be aware of what's really happening in the Real World ESPECIALLY in BUSINESS. Mind you, most of them chit chats in their Internal Forum for nothing and other forums daily. Pity since some of them have degrees in Businesss and are Businessman themselves and declare themselves literally as outstanding in their fields. Which is CRAP. Business is infinite learning. Get yourself updated or reasearch. But just don't just sit there in your ASS declaring yourself LORD OF THE JUNGLE and don't know the present day situation. There are lot of listings that don't belong to its present categories.

To give credit to those who are doing their jobs well SOME are in Regional with higher editing priveleges. You know who you are.

There are SOME OUTSTANDING Editalls and the directory needs more. But most of you can't do the job all by yourselves. Needs more fresh recruits. As an outsider I can recommend some good folks for promotions that has been editing quietly and is not that popular since they don't post quite a lot in Internal Forums. Need Names ?
