Recently I applied to become an editor for DMOZ but unfortunately I was turned down (although I would have been an excellent mod! ) Undeterred by this I set up a new hotmail account, changed my location and applied from a different area (no need to but I decided that my website affiliate may have let me down). At this point, note that I set up a new email account. I then reapplied using the new email account, fake name etc. Then guess what!! 2 weeks later I get phishing emails to that hotmail account - but using the fake name that I gave on the DMOZ application. Does it get an more illegal/bent than that? FCUK DMOZ illegalities! Notting
From PAYPAL? Also, are you getting emails that look like they are from yourself, that offer to spread your organization to over 75,000 people or something? If so, then I'm deeply offended by DMOZ...as I started to get both types of emails recently. Though, I'm not saying it was (or wasn't) them.
People complain about corruption at DMOZ and its gets people like you who lie to become editors and you have the audacity to complain.
IIRC there were several senior editor caught lying so he is just trying to prove he is management material.
Care to share some English Tea and discuss this further ? Whew! talk about being reasonable and spamming. Nyahahahaha ! Crumpets.
If it is true then it is interesting but no surprise. DMOZ admins and Metas are already involved on all kind of illegal web sites and semi-legal web sites but if they have started with phishing emails, I think this is a new type of business for them.
