DMOZ is garbage just forget about it.

C'mon people instead of submitting to this one shitty directory that the editors don't even pay attention too, why not submit to 50 other directories (you can find alot of DP member directories in the Solicitations & Announcements section) so what if there not as big as DMOZ but if you use the right anchor text and use it repetitively then you will move higher in the rankings, not to mention a nice PR boost. The DMOZ is corrupt forget about. Red rep me if you like but you will be getting an automated one back if you disagree with me, or green rep me if you agree. Doesn't bother me. Trust me.

Smart man, add content to your site, SEO. And submit your site to alot of smaller directories it works one of my sites went from PR0 to PR5 in 1 month of being up. Just from submitting to DP member's small directories.

I also don't really give much importance to DMOZ, just submit and forget.

Would it be correct to assume that you once applied for becoming an editor and that you were rejected due to grammar mistakes?:D

I did not apply to become an editor.

And you also have some common grammar error's there as well, my friend.

Submit. Don't submit. Editors don't mind one way or another, there is no obligation either way. The best sites rise to the surface and will be picked up and listed anyway.

Yes I know that but some people are making a big deal out of it. Creating threads like, "OMG Why haven't I been added yet!".

They don't need to look too hard, a lot of those sites have a copy on editor's own harddisk. ;)

It takes 5 minutes to submit to dmoz. Submit your site and forget about it.

I always like threads like these... because it means the author hasn't taken his/her own advice.

    WTF are you talking about?

I'm basically saying what these people are saying submit and forget. It's just people are moaning and groaning cause they haven't gotten accepted.

Here's a strategy to make your DMOZ submission become one of the most important things you do to help your site:

    1) Submit your site to DMOZ.
    2) Every day your site is not listed, submit your site to a different directory.

If you apply this method you should do quite well:)

And My 2 sites are also listed in DMoz :)
    So no complains :)

If you really didn't care about DMOZ, you wouldn't be posting threads about it.

Are you saying that you are going to red rep every person in this thread who disagrees with you...?

Nope, I said if you don't agree with me red rep me it won't bother me. Just don't be foolish because they will get an AUTOMATED rep rep back.

How would you automatically return a red rep to someone when it is annonymous?

The reputation system at DP automatically deducts 1 rep point from you when you red rep someone else.

Is a listing on DMOZ essential to ranking or traffic?
    Absolutely not!

DMOZ is known for listing pretty much anything including controversial content. There is a huge thread here on DMOZ and child pornography.

I believe many people these days do not want their site to be associated with an organization that promotes extreme pornography (and much more).

    Is extreme pornography garbage?
Can you easily forget about it?
I think the orginal poster has a good point. ;)
