DMOZ is dead but radical condescension lives on! I do think that the "server" problem is more by design, than by accident. AOL doesn't want to take care of the ODP anymore.
IMHO, there is no need to be that pessimistic. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=1728739&postcount=11
Dang it matri, I was typing one handed to leave you feedback, hit enter by mistake and off it went without signature.... I hate when people leave feedback without signature.
hahaha everytime I see this particular thread resurface as the top thread in the section while viewing the directories forum I can't help but laugh, because 'like a $2 ho' just automatically enters my skewed and demented mind!@ Is it really my fault though?
Oh my goodness let us get a company doctor to help them out SOS out for Rumsfeld Yes this is Rumsfeld here Amid all the clutter, beyond all the obstacles, aside from all the static, are the goals set. Put your head down, do the best job possible, let the flak pass, and work toward those goals. Donald Rumsfeld Is Dmoz like that
Twenty-four days and counting down toward DMOZ's last breath, yet in the mean time Light a Million Candles has exceeded it's one million goal and still climbing toward two million lighted candles!
Gee Whiz! I had this great comeback for both of you when firefox decides to do a number on me and closed out completely. So I will just make it short and sweet. Thanks popo and please don't burn your gorgeous self in the process!
I was on my way to burn down the ODP. Day 25 and the server still down ? Is the server that complicated to fix or some payment difficulty towards the techs ? Or does the sponsor don't have finances to get new server ? I saw one META says most editors holding their breath each day.
25 days? AOL IS trying to bring the ODP to its knees. How can anyone doubt this? On purpose. And I am probably not being cynical enough, as usual.
Okay I will nail the final coffin of the Dmoz by announcing my directory on December 15th which would be the largest directory on the earth by means of categories
Simple too be greater than Dmoz Also when you search for a keyword "PHP Directory scripts" It may list the top one nut also but other samller ones will not be shown a directorys job is streamline it
Well, greater is not necessarily better. If you want a successful directory, I would suggest working on better.
Do you have enough sites listed to fill all those categories? If you do, that would be truly amazing. If most categories are empty or just contain ads what's the point? Looking forward to seeing the greatest.
