DMOZ is accepting submissions again...

Submit and forget is good advice. As for directory-owners submitting: you might as well not try, unless you have THE directory resource on some niche, that is. General directories are generally not accepted in DMOZ.

 

I read they dumped the old queue and are starting fresh with submissions:

"If you are a Webmaster who's site is not listed at the directory yet, now is the time to do it. It does not matter, if you did so already in the past or not, because the old submission queue is gone. The queue starts empty."

No actually that's not true. According to the ODP forums the admin posted that now is a good time to submit as the waiting list has been reset so it's empty.

This is not about how much it will take you to be listed but actually that you are going to be rejected if submitting a general purpose directory.

Yes, it is unbelievable, but submission is live now. We must only hope that our projects will be listed in normal time.

 

Ok after 1 year of wait submitted my sites again, lets see how many years i have to wait now .

Just tried applying to be an editor, and I still get a "temporarily unavailable" message. Are they serious about taking care of the backlog? how will they without recruiting more editors?

 

They may already have a particular number of editors ready. As a ex-editor myself, I believe they get editors based more on demand and backlog of submissions.

 

In a nutshell - we don't mind if site siggestions sit in limbo until other parts of the directory program are finished, so that ability has been turned on. However, since all the programs required to process editor applications are not working yet, we don't want to accept applications and have them sit in limbo - people who want to edit should be able to get a relatively quick response to their application. Once everything is working properly and applications can be fully processed, that ability will be made available also.

I submitted again, it has been almost 10 months waiting from original request. Do you think the editors are biased??

 

Yes editors are biased, myself for example: I prefer to list horse related sites over any other.

 

I am surprised, I think you will have much more sympathy for a donkey.

 

well after going through dmoz i found my site is already added? but on every checker it says my site is not added but i seen it on dmoz?

 

Your site was added the middle of December. Since we have not produced a RDF dump since we were down in October, none of the directory subscribers will have it in their version. There also seems to be issues with our own internal search. Please be patient, it should be fixed soon.

 

nice one thanks for clearing this up i will add some more sites see if they get listed.

 

i submitted a few a couple of days back.
Wonder if and when they will get approved.
