Hi Please avoid adding your site to dmoz and remove your site from there. There are editors protecting their own interest and not adding competitors to the directories. I didnt get http://www.findmatch.org added to that site. A insider said that, "a editor did write "its not a dating site" Someone agree? Either the editor are extremly dumb or just protecting his interests.
I'm saying that almost all of your content is available for members only. I'm pretty sure DMOZ has rules against that for acception.
I've never usually had a problem getting sites into DMOZ, in fact some of the editors have been helpful in pointing out problems with my sites. Once these have been rectified, there's never usually any delay in getting them on. However, as SVZ says, all my content is publicly accessible, no restricted areas or anything.
Once frustrated comments are not surprising DMOZ has its good and bad points but, you just can't call it a joke!!
I agree. I've never found links from DMOZ to be particularly good generators of direct traffic, but the accepted logical is that inclusion in DMOZ is good for your pagerank. I can attest to that.
Why would people remove their sites from DMOZ because your dating site wasn't accepted By the thread title, you could have chosen 100 different reasons but you gave the one that convinces no one. I think my sites will be staying Between 1 day and never (Yes I had a site accepted in one day)
One of my website was included with in one month, my football blog was included within a week. I submitted my travel blog nearly 4 months ago but still waiting for inclusion I will wait few more months before resubmitting since it was submitted to a very busy catagory. It depends some of the catagories are very busy therfore it takes time but some others are not.
There certainly are some problems with DMOZ. But you need to get over your rejection. It's just one backlink and brings very little traffic. Move on.
I agree that it's a joke. I had my site listed and I was doing a link exchange with the category editor. He wanted to stop the exchange and then he removed my DMOZ entry. It's a pathetic and corrupt directory, I'm glad Google is moving away from it -- and I hope other sites do too.
not all dmoz editors are good people. many editors are rarely login and make edits including me but i'm a good person that will accept all site that match the criteria and totally reject gambling site from my categories.
