DMOZ influence on results

    Hi,

One of my sub-domains was added (finally after 6 months) to DMOZ. SInce then the PR has raised from 3 to 5 and links from 0 to 25!

That sub-domain is #1 for almost keywords.

    Has anyone experienced this jump??

The problem is that I've submited more 5 sub-domains and they weren't approved yet. They take so much time......

Maybe I'm gonna apply for editor. Any editor here?

Yes I have experienced exactly the same things. In my honest opinion, sites cannot be really 100% effective in search engines if they are not submitted in DMOZ.org, its the first thing I do when I want it to be found in Google.

Yahoo.com works pretty good for English sites too btw. Not as good as DMOZ but still worth the time to submit it.

We had the same experience. Before getting on DMOZ, our PR was 3 and that jumped to 5 once we were listed. Google does put some focus for page ranking based on listing in DMOZ.
By the way, may I ask what's your subdomain and the keywords used?

Google does not put any more of an emphasis on the dmoz listings than it does any other page with the same PR, it's just that the dmoz directory is used by so many other directories including the Google directory. IMO a dmoz listing is 3-4 times more valuable than a Yahoo listing.

Also a DMOZ listing is gonna be a good on topic link, which should provide good Local Rank too.

What is the rough time between being listed in Dmoz and being then listed in the Google Directory or deriving any benefit from the Dmoz listing?

And you should also wait more two months, so that google will start to display backlinks from the websites that use DMOZ data (which are many).

I agree that it is far more valuable than Yahoo, and it is FREE!
