Whether indexing Dmoz just like Google and displaying results would have any copyright issues?

or whether taking out urls from Dmoz and preparing an another directory would have any copyrights issue?

I am not talking about adding ODP data ,I am talking about indexing it and displaying in Search Results

Just like what Google is doing

Ahhh, same page, just the section above the one I said. Though if it's JUST LIKE what google is doing, you may wish to read their rules as well ;)

However, it is likely covered under the fair use copy right laws, unless your search results are exclusively DMOZ, in which case, you'll likely need to abide by the ODP license agreement.

Copyright is an ongoing issue with all search engines given that the very nature of their existance is to copy the content of websites.

It's a relationship that's needed though, for without the indexing how can the search engines direct traffic to your site?

The implications for DMOZ are no different from any other site.

Google has one of the good bots that obeys the robots.txt conventions.

If the folk at Yahoo, DMOZ or anywhere don't want Google indexing their pages they can easily stop it. Not so easy for some of the other bots.

However Google adds a certain value to the Yahoo directory by indexing it so Yahoo have no reason to ban their indexing robots.
