I think it is very clear what I am saying. There is no need for the extensive discussion about deep links since the present guideline already covers this situation. Just start clicking on the listings in DMOZ gallery and you will notice that at least 90% or more of the listings are nothing more than simple affiliate doorway pages that are against DMOZ guideline. Just start enforcing the present guideline and remove those listings and the problem is fixed. ;)

Guideline is not the problem, ignoring it and lack of enforcement is.

I find it highly ironic that we have sidjf and accountability jumping in here to talk about editor abuse and integrity - the only ones missing are aquarius/pagode and lmocr.

I usually take the appearance of this bunch as confirmation that gworld is onto something and these creatures are getting worried about it again - so they pile in here to attempt to distract the thread into re-evaluations of gworld and away from the issue.

You can't blame them, I guess - it seems to work at The Resourceless Zone, which of course is their natural habitat.

Darn, minstrel is on to my tricks! All of the sites in Adult/Image_Galleries are mine. The secret is out.

I notice you have pagode in the "naughty" group with me and lmocr now too. Be careful, it will only work if you have a couple of people in there at a time. You have to maintain the "nice" group too you know.

I'm not here to do your dance though, I only posted because of

It was just too rich. I'm sure you choked on your coffee as well when you read it minstrel. ;)

Don't worry, Sid. There is a "nice" group too... you know... editors with real integrity? Editors who actually care about something other than self-promotion? It's just that you're not in it.

Now that you've dropped in and run up the post count a bit, I'm sure there must be people waiting for your pearls of Resourceless Zone wisdom somewhere. Else. Don't keep them waiting, mmkay?

I think this is quite revealing:

    From DMOZ general guideline:

    "Sites Generally Not Included

    Affiliate Marketing Schemes

    What Does "Affiliate Marketing" Mean?
Revenue sharing between online advertisers/merchants and online publishers/salespeople, whereby compensation is based on performance measures, typically in the form of sales of products and services, clicks, registrations, or some other hybrid model.

    .....................

Sites Consisting Primarily of Affiliate Links

Sites consisting primarily of affiliate links, or whose sole purpose is to drive user traffic to another site for the purpose of commission sales, provide no unique content and are not appropriate for inclusion in the directory. "

    From DMOZ adult guideline:

    "Image Galleries

Sections for groups or galleries of pictures, listed by category and type: membership, AVS, or free.

Doorways and affiliate sites are not accepted. "

Read about 90% of image galleries are such sites.

It seems me to me that sidjf and Admin don't agree with each other on what guideline means but I let you to draw your own conclusions from the above quotes. ;)

Sid, how did you get stuck in the "naughty" group? Maybe I'm mistaken, but haven't you been working hard to get the guidelines for image galleries changed for about a year?

Sid doesn't go to resource-zone and his work in adult is/has been admirable. His record speaks for him and I'm proud to call him my friend. ;)

added: Considering what I know about the editors stuck in the naughty group, I have to say I wouldn't mind being lumped in with them as well. There's a lot of integrity in that group.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, Annie. I'm not an editor and I have to judge people by what I can see. In sidjf, all I see is just another DMOZ troll.

Annie, being in the naughty group is not based on reality. It's based on playing (or not playing) gworld and minstrel's game. I exposed the non-sense of gworld's posts one too many times, now I am in the "naughty" group - the point, of course, being that we would value minstrel's praise enough that we would change what we are saying just to get it...lol

Don't feel bad that you aren't in the naughty group as well Annie (as it's obvious that the people who know what they are talking about get sent there and you should be there too), minstrel just has to keep a few people in the "nice" group or the whole thing loses it's value. ;)

Are you suggesting that orlady, the other Admin who started the thread about deep links and the editor who removed those previous listings mentioned by me, are also full of it and don't understand the adult business with your "special" understanding of guideline?

It seems that "special" knowledge is only shared by adult editors and the rest of people just simply see it as abuse. ;)

First, it's not the "naughty" group - it's just the plain dirt level bad group. It comes from playing games with words and with rules - I guess you know a lot about that part, sidjf. You haven't exposed anything except your own pathetic brand of pointlessness. And finally, I don't expect you to care about praise from me any more than I care about your opinion of me.

Now, weren't you on your way somewhere else?

I gave up on trying to post anything serious here a long time ago - right around the time that I realized that most of the "DPers" (you and gworld for the most part really) are not here to actually try to improve anything (like protecting children from pedophiles), you're just here for your own personal amusement.

So, based on what you can see from the past couple of weeks, I'd say I'm as much of a troll as you are. ;)

I wonder how people would rate your psychiatric skills based on the cunning mind-play you partake in here on DP? I'd say it's somewhere on the level of watching a chimp try to open a can of corn with a spoon based on what I see in DP...

You can't even get the simplest of facts straight...it's sad really.

No...I have some time to kill until I get off of work...watching you and gworld flail about fills the time nicely.

I agree with you, sid. This is obviously a total waste of your time. You really should go somewhere else.

Now why doesn't it surprise me that sid is trolling on a forum while being paid to do whatever it is that he gets paid to do? That's integrity all right.

LOL, grasping at straws are we? Not that it matters, but I get paid to sit in front of a computer and do whatever I want while I wait for the phone to ring. Wait...maybe I'm a phone sex operator and gworld was right, those were my sites!!

I want to fix the problem with abuse in DMOZ but I must admit that it is amusing looking at you, jumping up and down trying to find an excuse that makes at least some sense. :D

But I have sympathy for you too, I know how difficult your situation is, trying to fight the facts and pretending that the whole world knows nothing and you are the only one with "special" knowledge about why those abusive doorway pages should be listed. ;)

It seems the mighty M has really lost touch with reality, since I see neither of the above names posting at RZ.

I think that sidjf is not the one trying to up the post count. If you look at the counts, I think someone else is the one who has no life outside of DP.

Let's be honest - these threads really have very little to do with DMOZ, it's a bunch of bored people trying to troll each other.

I'm sure that's what it's about for you and sid. I'm not bored. I'm not trolling. And I am upset with the way DMOZ is run. Why aren't you?

    Proving my point...

When I first started posting here, I really wanted to try to work with other people who I thought wanted to see improvements as well and make things better in the ODP using their input.

It took a few weeks to see the reality of what goes on here.

I can be honest. That sums up most of my recent posts. Can minstrel and gworld be honest?

Very interesting, it has nothing to do with DMOZ but Admin, editall, editor are participating and reading it.

Since Orlady is reading this, maybe we should ask her opinion about this question:

Should affiliate doorway pages be deleted according to the guideline and your own posting here or should it be listed 30 times in DMOZ as sidjf suggests?
