I have taken some time today to report a DMoz editor, In the past I have tried to do this through the available channels but to no avail. So I have given up trying to contact Dmoz and it's partners, however the HM revenue and customs where very interested to hear what I had to say. I have passed on information about 2 editors to them including usernames on various forums, this way if anyone is taking money to list on Dmoz they will have to now explain it to the government. Has anyone else done this before, if so what was the outcome?
I look forward to the media reports of HMRC rummaging AOL's Californian headquarters . If you have evidence of abuse, had you not thought of visiting http://report-abuse.dmoz.org/ ? Serious reports are treated seriously.
Hello Jim Im affraid I have exhausted all possibilities regarding Dmoz. lol, Secondly I very much doubt HMRC are going to be interested in rummaging AOL's headquarters as you would know DMoz is voluntary, and as such editors are not allowed to make any money re-selling the service. They would be more likely rummaging editors homes who they suspected. HMRC are however interested in undeclared personal gains within the UK through internet accounts such as paypal etc.
Jim I have heard it all before, nothing personal to you but I do not trust DMoz hence reporting said editors, therefore it would not be in my interests to disclose such information to a DMoz editor
I'd like to add... If the complaint is about a meta-editor, and the reports get sent to the meta-team, then I can most certainly understand the hesitation in reporting one. The gov't will not get involved... but a public name & shame that includes some type of proof will likely raise more eyebrows then simply saying that there is corruption or the like.... so how about it? Name and shame!
