That is so cool - I'm very happy for you. :D Stop by the new editors forum once your password is working (can take up to 24 hours) and say hi.

It is a lesson that persistence pays off. Alcas, you listened to the advice given here, obviously applied it, and acquired a rewarding hobby. Congratulations.

Fortunately that kind of negative comment didn't put him off. If the ODP hadn't wanted him as an editor then the original request not to apply again would not have been withdrawn, or would have been repeated.

Fortunately some people don't waste meta editors' time trying to track down their deceptive multiple accounts. ;)

Most sites will belong in a "Locality" rather than at borough level. Look for council sponsored sites, borough based social and welfare and maybe economic development or environmental organisations, political parties, borough-wide services, tourist information, local guides (watch for spam), that sort of thing. Be careful, and any time you are in the least bit in doubt ask in the forum for UK Regional editors - the UK section of Regional has some quirks. And the UK editors are generally very helpful to new editors. I would advise moving onto a Locality category as quickly as you can where you will get a much wider range of sites across the board - education, businesses, hotels and attractions, that sort of thing - and increase your experience. Best of luck :)

Thanks Brizzie. The UK forums are full of helpful people, and I've already been given some useful advice!

I think the category I am editing may have peaked (I have four or five more potential entries) and I will look to edit an entire locality, as per your's and other's advice.

    Thanks once again!

Nah, I don't think so. I recruit more on the outside than I ever did on the inside. I think I only helped one to make it to editor the whole time I edited, and that one took both of us to get. Remember?

But buratssky and drhayes makes two I have helped here, and I am still working on one in another forum, and that is only in a few weeks. If I keep it up, there won't be a shortage of editors. ;)

Why do you not want to be an editor, but you want others to be editors? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Doesn't make much sense to me, either, especially when you consider how good an editor she was.

I can't be sure but wasn't her resignation over porn listings? May be something for admins to consider, what is more important? Good editors or rape, torture and child porn listings?

Actually, it isn't that I want them to become editors, but rather that they are showing an interest in becoming editors. No reason for me not to encourage them if they want to edit. I just try to counteract their misgivings about the process since they are interested. Just because I have personal reasons for not editing anymore doesn't mean I expect the same from others.

And thanks for the compliment, orlady. I never thought I was very good as an editor myself. I am a much better cheerleader now than I was an editor then. :D

I do actually, took a lot of persuasion but it was worth it.
    And the nicest ;)
Just goes to show how some people underestimate themselves!
Makes sense to me - I do want others to be editors. It is a rewarding hobby with a lot of satisfaction involved. A constant flow of new and enthusiastic blood keeps it fresh. At the same time a break after a long period of time of constant daily editing does no-one any harm particularly when the outside world priorities have to take precedence, enables them to refresh themselves - there are some editors do that regularly. Sometimes the break is permanent, sometimes not. I hope some day the conditions will be right so that dogbows feels she can return.
