Very interesting. It seems the general user isn't using it much these days.

I think it's people just not using them. Well at least there is life over there.

LOL. The only reason that DMOZ has a high Alexa ranking to begin with is because of all the webmasters and DMOZ editors who visit DMOZ to post their links have Alexa tool bar installed. :D

But don't worry, after this thread, you will see all kind of "senior" editors running auto visit programs to boost DMOZ Alexa ranking. :D

More "what I would do if I were you" from Julian the master of dirty tricks. No one within the ODP cares about this sort of stuff. It might be relevant for your type of websites (porn and escort directories etc)and that sort of thing is what you do to get advertisers, but it has no significance to the ODP.

But it is relevant for your link selling business, isn't? :D
For "editors" that don't care about web business, there is certainly a lot of discussion about Google updates inside DMOZ, right? Did you ask the Admin about her commercial web site? I see your other friend who was not afraid to show his editor name has disappeared after I asked what does he do for work and only left us with 2 DMOZ editors who have to hide their editor name and claim that they support corruption out of goodness of their heart. :D

I have to agree with Gworld here, at least in part. If DMOZ was truly not a place to assist the webmaster, then the links would be rel="nofollow" and there would not be 10,000++ listings for Topix.

As for "escort directories" I'm glad those were finally removed from the ODP  OH WAIT: there are a few there still...

You have a better listing of "escort directories" in this category. :D

    DMOZ escort directories

May be neb likes to tell us the story about DMOZ editor and RICO act.

Sorry I have lost you Julian. Especially the bit about the commercial wesite. And who do I need to ask, is it this mysterious Jim you mentioned earlier. Since when were editors not allowed websites? And someone left. Ok?. Was that Jim as well? Perhaps you should stop talking gibberish and try and be more coherent.

Sorry, I don't know that one. Is Jim involved in that one too?

You should use the nofollow tags to link to the ODP, it's just like the URL tag, but has the word NOFOLLOW. They do not want or need the PR so linking to it is rather counter productive.

If I was an editor, I'd not list that site. It seems anything from there that does not have 10+ external links is not found. Though, what do I know... it's listed four times

A bit more info can be found here: http://www.ricoact.com/

    An interesting note:
A RICO enterprise need not be economically motivated. National Organization for Women, Inc. v. Scheidler, 510 U.S. 249 (1993).

Though, I think this discussion would fit better under the Shoemoney thread rather then this one, as the continuance of it here would be considered hijacking.

So, to try to get it back on topic a little bit, the falling numbers of the project, do seem to kind of follow the trend. The UPSWING of their crash and subsequent chatter over it has now died, and it's stats are plummeting. I wonder if the adding of the WWW was an attempt to get the chatter going again...

Really? Are you sure you did not make that one up Julian? Are we talking real world or Julian's delusional world? Is this all part of the conspiracy theory involving Jim?

May be you should ask DMOZ, one of the reasons for choosing current admins was because supposedly they were not involved in commercial web sites or at least that is what was claimed in that time.
