We all know that Yahoo Directory and DMOZ are givens for submitting sites to. My problem is it seems DMOZ completely ignores submissions. I have submitted many sites for my clients as well as updates and I have never been able to achieve a listing. Anyone believe the DMOZ myth? They just don't update anymore.
I think that you should submit your website to dmoz then go and leave it, dont resubmit as this wont help. Also have you considered becoming an editor at dmoz?
It generally takes at least 6 months, sometimes a year or more before DMOZ editors will give your site a review and subsequent listing.
It depends on what category you post in. If it's been over 6 months and your site isn't listed, it's 1 of 2 reasons: 1) There isn't an editor for that category (Go ahead and apply) 2) The editor is corrupt, and probably owns a site similar to yours and will never let you in
lakelandprinting, I agree with your points, can I add one more? His sites are rubbish or/and have duplicate content and that's why he will never get included. Criver, don't take it personally, I know it's tough and I can't get there myself (I guess my sites are rubbish as well) but good luck anyway, it's pointless.
Yeah, that's an obvious one which I forgot to mention. DMOZ does have humans that post, so it has to be a quality site. Unfortunately, they only have a few editors and a gizillions websites to critique.
i myself dont even bother submitting to DMOZ anymore. but if you need to submit, then your submission policy should be to submit and forget. you may get approved in few months or never. don't lose your sleep over it
I think DMOZ are to busy listing pages from all the major sites like Google, and last time I checked they had about 7,000 listing, no joke. It takes the piss, there's no room for the little guy over there.
I heard that DMOZ has little weight lately for google. No wonder why with all the corrupted assholes running it into the ground. I have couple sites submited there but not listed yet since last October, go figure .
LOL. So very true! DMOZ must have very bad editors or it wouldn't take a long time to accept submissions.
I've all but given up on DMOZ. I've tried submitting a few sites over the years, following submission guildines to the letter but have never succeeded in getting a single listing.
a few sites offer dmoz submission as an potion. you may try them. they will submit to DMOZ and they offer moneyback guarantee .. dont know if they are legitimate though.
