[DMOZ BLOG] Why Hasn't My Site Been Accepted Into DMOZ?

A few of the points discussed:
    • DMOZ is not set up as a listing service for site owners.
    • The site is submitted to an incorrect category.
    • The site is submitted to the wrong language section of the directory.
    • The submitted site does not meet submission or editorial guidelines for inclusion.
    • The category has a backlog of submissions.
    • The category editor is corrupt and/or a competitor is keeping the site from being listed.
    • No one is monitoring the category.
A true gem of a highlight: And if/when you do submit, please...please....please avoid any claims/jokes/sarcasm of offering money to get accepted into DMOZ. Editors apply zero sense of humor to these types of statements and it is a sure fire way to ensure your site does not gain entry. Ever.

Overall I do think it was a good post, with some decent points brought up, and it was certainly YEARS over due in answering a few of these questions.

Check it out, it's likely the most worthy of being read blog post todate!

    http://blog.dmoz.org/2007/10/08/why-hasnt-my-site-been-accepted-into-dmoz/

Though, to any wondering why their site is not listed yet PLEASE post us a link and the category you submitted to so that someone can help you...as with out one (or both) then there is not much that can be done, and just saying that the directory sucks does nothing for anyone but your post count...

It does look good, and it's a good thing they are doing it, and I feel that this latest post can and will do wonders to those wondering why their sites are not listed yet...hehe, the word is official this time, rather then just posted on some unofficial forum like Resource Zone or Digital Point. But don't let all the friendliness fool you...they are seemingly removing many of the less friendly posts.

Though, it does look good, and for once important questions are being answered to the submitter.

"avoid any claims/jokes/sarcasm of offering money to get accepted into DMOZ. Editors apply zero sense of humor to these types of statements and it is a sure fire way to ensure your site does not gain entry. Ever. "

So is it true? Can you submit a competitors site (or your evil ex's site) with a bribe and get them banned?

Probably, when it comes to investigating evidence there is no such thing at DMOZ only good old fashion witch-hunt with someone screaming burn him/her at the stake and (almost) everyone else following!

I offer $50 to every editor who adds a new Topix link to DMOZ, Here is an open bribe offer to DMOZ editors and let's see if anyone dares to remove one of the 10,000 topix links that are already listed in DMOZ. :D

The blog and everything in it is just a bad joke.
