Does DMOZ really benefit you that much? I heard if you become editor you can edit your own site in. Is that true?

imo, it does not help 'that' much. Better try yahoo, lycos, joeant & other high quality paid directories, getting listed in dmoz (for free  ) has become very hard nowadays unless you have a non-commercial site.

yeah, you can make lot of money if you become an editor,
simply reveal your editor identity at dp forum,
and someone will pay you for listing her/his sites.
but remember don't let anyone know that otherwise you will be fired soon.

A link in DMOZ is just another backlink like anyother directory. But, getting listed in DMOZ will pave you the way to get listed in google directory which is very good.

Yes you can. But, remeber to keep your website identities a top secret. ;)

Just asking the question... i have no idea how to become an editor. in the instructions it says to apply for a specific category. But I don't have the time to do it anyways.

DMOZ is not very good for actual click throughs, but they are somewhat of an authority in the eyes of search engines (or at least they use to be)

Dmoz is not a listing service. It's not a service for webmasters, with many stories of corruption, delisting, long waiting lists, bullying etc etc.

I only ever got 1 site listed and that site was the worst homemade effort on earth, and still dmoz included it. So much for being 'quality' aware.......

Personally, I wouldn't bother with them - and the traffic you will get isn't impressive. Pleanty more good directories out there, and better targeted too.:)
