One at a time and year after year after year.................

These questions will never be solved unless AOL intervene and get rid of many Admins and Metas in top level that are protecting such practices. The so called management of DMOZ are borderline useless and there is no internal mechanism to deal with such problems through organizational changes.
The change from the top will only come when the top management of AOL and Times-Warner will see that their name is associated with the worst type of porn and illegal web sites on the net and as the result of their need to protect their own name and possibly the reputation of the company. ;)

Slow progress is still a good thing. :p

You are very good at what you do, very smart and very kind hearted in real life. We both know that.;) One day at a time my friend. One day at a time.

One thing good about the porn industry is it provides income for shallow people with no skills that can't deal with reality. :D

The way the discussion in DMOZ is, it is very hard to differentiate between slow progress, standing still or going backward. ;)

You know well there is no moving backward. (You know what I mean.) There might be a standing still but definetely there is (slow) progress. ;)

They are not ready to deal with affiliate doorway pages and they are not ready to stop listing illegal sites, so in what way do you think that there is a "slow progress"? ;)

Gworld, behave! You know I'm still waiting for you to give me the information about the affiliate doorway pages you say are there, but you're dragging your feet. As an editor you seem to complain much more than you actually work. Either take your editorial commitment seriously and help get the job done or quit flapping your lips about it!

You must be joking, have you dealt with any of these sites yet?

I know that we are talking about "slow progress" but that thread is from 20th of March.

I make it even easier for you, just choose any listing in adult image galleries and it is more than likely that it is affiliate doorway page. ;)

As soon as those are removed, new ones will be added. I have no hope in improving DMOZ by deletion of useless affiliate sites since I am sure adult editors can add those type of sites faster than I can delete. ;)
I was just answering Annie who was still pretending to know nothing about these affiliate pages. The only solution to this problem is in strict enforcement of the DMOZ own guideline which does not permit such listings and then starting to clean those sites that are presently listed. ;)

Do you say you are a Senior Editor too ? No doubt, like I said you are very smart.;)

You have a point. If there are strict guidelines in the other part of the directory then why not do the same in adult ? :)

Why don't you ask Sid about the reason that DMOZ guidelines are not enforced. Can it be too much affiliate commissions? ;)

Pretending? G, you give me too much credit. I'm not pretending, I know nothing about the adult pron industry, how it works, and where to find the sources of the affiliate content. Further, I don't enjoy looking at the stuff and don't consider it a wise use of my time to research all that when I could be working on other things that need to be done. Especially when you already know all about it.

Like I told you before, I'd be happy to work on it with you since you already have all this knowledge. But why in the world should I duplicate your work when I'd rather do topics like schools, libraries, and museums? Share what you know and we can tackle it as a team, or else quit with the tired old blah, blah, blah. It's boring. For you, as an editor who claims to have detailed knowledge of this, to make lame excuses about why you won't cooperate with a clean-up effort in Adult, to sit there and try to discredit other editors is pretty hypocritical, don't you think?

Agreed, let me know when you're ready to do more than just talk. You know how to reach me. I'll be waiting. ;)

In the meantime, I blame you gworld for allowing this to go on with your full knowledge. If I knew the things you say you know I'd be all over it. Of course maybe you really don't know what you're talking about and you can't back up your claims? Either way, it's your fault, not mine.

Because, as we all know, I alone control the content of Adult!

Your accusations are funny gworld, as they are coming from the one person around here who is confirmed to be a porn webmaster ( sites that do not have 2257 info on them BTW). How can you even keep a straight face when you say this stuff?

As I explained before, there is no clean up going on in adult, it is only window dressing.;)
Other than that, you are beginning to sound like shygirl, no matter how many times I post the links with the examples of such sites, you still post that you know nothing.

The first step to solving a problem is an awareness there is a problem.
How are we doing so far? :)

I never said that you alone control the adult but are you claiming that adult editors are listing illegal "teen" sites, bestiality sites, rape and torture sites for pure unselfish reasons in order to make a better world?

Let summarize our views in this discussion:

    Gworld:

    • 1- Illegal site without 2257 SHOULD NOT be listed.
    • 2- Affiliate doorway pages SHOULD NOT be listed since it is against DMOZ guideline.

    Sidjf:

    • 1- Illegal site without 2257 SHOULD be listed in contradiction of DMOZ guideline.
    • 2- Affiliate doorway pages SHOULD be listed.
I am happy to let others be the judge and decide who wants to improve DMOZ and who wants the continuation of abuse and corruption. ;)

Low blow, but I'll forgive you this time. ;)
Sorry G, as you know it doesn't work like that. I'm not your toy. Either I'm in it all the way or I'm not. I won't waste my time cleaning up bits and pieces as you toss them out for your personal enjoyment.

As I said before, I have no intention of leading a cleanup in Adult. I agree that it needs to be done and I'm willing to participate, but I'm not willing to volunteer the time to research the topic and familiarize myself with the ways of the pr0n industry just to satisfy your demands. You need to be reasonable, you are an editor just like me. I'll work on your team, but I won't be your puppet.

Like I said, you know how to reach me. If you ever decide to stop playing games and get serious I'm ready to follow your lead, learn from you and help get the job done. In the meantime, it's a big directory and there's plenty of work to keep me busy.

an0n, FYI, only the Kids_and_Teens directory is meant to be child safe. ;)

From More fun with DMOZ, all the links from almightyzeus(.)com are affiliate doorway pages.

From More fun with DMOZ II, all the links from onlinesexhq(.)com are doorway pages that redirect to Removespyware(.)com

Is it more clear now? ;)
