Actually thats quite a liberating thought. I feel like burning my bra ! A Dmoz thread without Minstrel sticking his neb in... Heaven on a stick..
He is a good guy, look at how much crap he takes from you all and he always comes back for more, you DMOZ editors should love him for taking your abuse and being a target for you all for so long!
If you want to talk about victims, it is the ownership of DMOZ that makes a mockery of all of us. If they have any balls, they will set policy about things like bestiality and "teen boys" and display it for the public record. They are not going to do that though, because they fear the public's response. Instead, they have their minions, and we have our Minstrels!
Oh, they are going to clean it up or fire some administrators, they have no choice with MySpace getting hit with a $30 Million Dollar Lawsuit. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=myspace+30+million+lawsuit&prssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fr=sfp&x=wrt AOL has problems with a conflict of interest that will result in class action lawsuits that could be valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars because they sell porn filtering software to parents, but at the same time they seed the web with porn!
Thank God for one intelligent person among all these ..... As I mentioned before, our point of views are very different but at least you are intelligent and honest about expressing your opinions even when those are not popular.
Just couple of example of my postings that I have explained exactly this question for you. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=891680&postcount=1863 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=891728&postcount=1865
Oh I do, this forum wouldn't be the same without his 'witty' putdowns, so funny.. shame they keep avoiding and contribute nothing to the actual issues discussed thats all. Two words then for you guys when it comes to porn and porn on the WWW... 'Traci Lords' Who would've guessed she was a minor, the ENTIRE US ( and Californian) porn industry certainly didn't. And from Gworld's handy yet clear as mud links : Dmoz IS an American corporation and you say in every thread here is subject to and MUST obey Californian law in ALL, I'll say again, in ALL listings within it. No exception. What 'law' makes a distinction ? You're dreaming babe..Dmoz editing according to you is all bound by US law and more particularly Californian state law. You keep quoting the bloody thing ! So answer the question a bit better for me. Californian law does not make a distinction if, as you say, all sites listed within Dmoz in their entirety must comply with it. Unlicensed midwifery IS illegal under it. And I'd hate to find myself 'promoting' illegal acts and practices..hmmmm ???
I know Shygirl, all the chicks like Minstrel, even Mella loves him! PS: If Minstrel puts you down, he really likes you a lot!
This is sooo of topic but what the hell, everyone else is Anthonycea, (shhhh word in your ear hun), all you have to do is become a Dmoz editor ? That will guarentee you a piece of the action and all the attention you want, know what I mean ??? Good luck in catching his eye for a few flirtly yet 'playful' insults.
See, you editors miss Minstrel when he is not here.... Now where is that group of DMOZ editors that wanted him out and banned Let them know a public flogging is due for chasing him away!
Nobody has chased me away, Anthony. I've just given up on ever educating people like shygirl, lmocr, orlady, and accountability. They've had pages and pages of explanation about these issues. It's not like it's rocket science - by now, most Grade 5 students would have understood. As I said earlier, they either don't or won't understand. I don't think it's my responsibility to educate them and there's no need to do that anyway. The outcome of the issues does not depend on people like them at all. In fact, it doesn't depend on anyone within DMOZ. The outcome will be determined by those who are outside that organization.
It would be just as good as a vacation if the DMOZ apologists would take a vacation or go back to the Resourceless Zone instead of hanging around here trying to cloud the issues with bafflegab, smokescreens, and misinformation.
No sigh it's not rocket science. Either A) Dmoz is governed by US/Californian law since thats where it orignates from and Gworld and those who keep quoting from it assure us all this IS the case. ( I won't bother to link as they are too numerous). or B) Dmoz Isn't ? or... C) only some categories are because ( fill in the blank here) Is that a simple enough question for you ? Answer please, thank you ! Once we've cleared that up then I guess we can all get down to proper discussion re legal v's illegal sites yes ? I think we should get down to the nitty gritty of overall country/state wise legalities first, don't you ? Just so we all know where we are. I'm sick of them being quoted in page 14 of a discussion and derailing it completely. Everyone stops posting afterwards it's just so 'oh here he goes again' so no-one bothers afterwards. Unforunately, the Gworld/Minstrel school of thought are under the mistaken impression that they've 'won' somehow. No, we're all just sick of saying the same things over and over again to the same responses in every thread. If he and those who agree answer once and for all the above then we can all move on in DP with a good and valid discussion. Until then it's something slipped into every thread here. ie someone starts a ' Female Dmoz editors with PMT should they be allowed to edit ?'... 10 pages in there will be the inevitable... 'well how do you explain illegal sites under Califorinian law then' type post. Everyone immediately logs off and unsubscribes the thread. Those that persevere will incurr yet another lengthy Minstrel/Gworld : " you obviously haven't heard of 'insert psychology syndrome" or " well under Californian law..." cue ten legal links from Gworld. They are everywhere here in every thread. So.. then overall A, B or C ? Feel free to back your choice up. Oh and Minstrel if you prefer chose the 'definitely true, quite true, neutral, disagree slightly, definitely disagree' option if thats preferable for you ? Just choose one and be done with it. That would help us ALL to move on a lot in DP with Dmoz discussions. I don't know if you've noticed, but I have, but most OP's here actually lose interest most of the time recently. Thats a real shame they don't stick around.
ALL sites in Dmoz ? All of them every single one ? ( Just to make sure because I will quote you later if needs be ).
