DMOZ and blogs

Do you guys (DMOZ editors) have some advice for getting blogs listed in DMOZ?
Seems to me that most of the categories are abandonded or have never really been filled by an editor.
    http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Weblogs/
Is there another section somewhere that I might be missing?

Also: does anyone here have his/her blogs listed in DMOZ?
    Thanks :)

Most of the categories are @links back to the appropriate sections. I can't imagine that blogs will be handled any differently to other sites. If you get lucky you may have an editor who is passionate about your subject...

Sarahk is correct. Blogs are handled just as any other sites. If your blog is about a specific topiv find that topic and suggest your site in that category. FI http://dmoz.org/Home/Cooking/Weblogs/
If there is no category named weblogs for your topic just suggest it in the main category for that topic.
If your blog is about you as a person and general things you do suggest it under the letter of your lastname in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Weblogs/Personal/ With already 3,143 blogs listed under Personal I wouldn't call this abandoned or never looked at.
As you can imagine with the number of new weblogs being put on the web every day the number of suggestion in these catagories may be high and a s a result the time before your blog is reviewed may be longer as you hoped for.

Yeah but obviously you'll agree with pretty much anything until you get your post count up to 10 or 25, right?

God I hate these pointless filler posts...

No doubt. This is why I hate these minimum post count rules.

I kind of like the rules. The person could actually contribute and get the minimum posts in no time. I can't imagine anyone having no value.

I submitted a couple blogs to Dmoz. Like everyone else, I think cars will be powered by Egg Nog before I get anything approved over there. :D

It's certainly possible. But it frequently isn't true.

See above: How valuable did you find it when ImBae.net dropped down a series of posts like "I agree with pagode"?

Not to make too fine a point of it minstrel, but it was stated that anyone has value - not everything they produce...;) And obviously everyone must at least have the potential to contribute positively here and there.

If for nothing else then by eagerly greeting other newcommers in the appropriate section :)

[edit]: above said, he did deserve the red rep for his meaningless comments

Yeah. We need to be a little more welcoming to the new comers. And the default *Peon* title might be a bit sarcastic for them, as well. Just my 2 cents! :)

I am not trying to argue that the poster has no potential for valuable posts. I am trying to argue (1) that, like many others, in an attempt to reach the minimum 10 posts for a signature or 25 posts for entry to the buy-sell forum, what /she did was go through the forums one night dropping definitely NOT valuable one line posts into different threads I was following; and (2) that we could minimize having to see this repeatedly by eliminating mionimum post requirements.

    This isn't an isolated occurrence.

That's what "Introductions" is for. If you think I'm overreacting here, do a search for all posts by ImBae.net and note the dates and times...

I found it humorous when I first joined here...

    Me too. :D

I wasn't crazy about being called a "grunt" but someday I'll get over that humiliation too. :p

    ( ACK! I made a "me too" post! )

Um . .if anyone hasn't noticed, Minstrel, that was a pointless post. Not only that you threw the subject of this thread totally off.

You didn't answer Blogmaster's question. I actually found some help on this thread and then you threw it off the rails.

    Good going!

Well, I'm a DMOZ editor myself and if I'd like a blog I'd let it in. But, as a matter of fact, I usually don't like blogs. Most of them seem quite confusing to me and I guess this is what other editors think.
