Here's a funny story for you guys.

Did you know that DMOZ "admin" bldarter pays me special attention?

I haven't approved website listings on behalf of DMOZ for two years. Long after my tenure as an "editor" ended at DMOZ, rather than "shutting up and editing" the prestigious bldarter continued to track my movements a year later!!!

That's right. They still busybody investigating ex-editors a whole year after they left. This is very important!!! God forbid they should fill up the stupid directory when they can spend time keeping the riff-raff out!

    Here's da proof.

I once had a few listings that were only up for a few weeks, but were mysteriously removed. Thanks to our spy, I now know what happened.

On April 7, 2006, Mr. bldarter had nothing better to do, and decided to feel really self-important, and try to root out some evil webmasters and their sinister websites.

The domains in bldarter's line of fire, on April 7, 2006, were:
    http://chickadee-dee-dee.com
    http://web-o-rama.net
    http://qed-experiment.com

bldarter deleted the few links that a couple of naive editors had allowed through. He marked all three domains with a bid bold yellow "CAUTION" label. Caution what? Looks like the reason might have been lost in the crash. But those are VERY DANGEROUS websites, and thank gawd we have bldarter the very important DMOZ ADMINSTRATOR to protect the public at large (all 9 dmoz visitors).

You can see the contents for yourselves. It is not for the faint of heart. It has yes, frightening photographs from my travels in the SouthWest, my hometown's haunted botanical garden, and other mysterious folders that you will agree are either possessed, or perverted. Especially the folder with pictures of my now dead cat.

bldarter, in his paranoia, or wisdom, depending on your point of view, decided to take some time out of his busy schedule to rid the ODP of these nasty manifestations of evil on the web.

It's truly a point of honor and pride that a humble webmaster like myself is viewed with such awe and terror by DMOZ administration, for crying out loud. It makes me feel grand. I rule.

I'll let you post those RZ stats a fresh new thread, they're a riot - host them at photobucket or something! This thread is about how bldarter thinks about me all the time because my websites and myself are so dangerous!

Don't flatter yourself, after I revealed that I bought domain which was about to expire it got moved to unreviewed so fast that editor didn't even bother to check category for subdomains and other dead websites, one which is still listed there. :p

Poor annie had to cleanup dead subdomain after him.

And two fresh websites (to which I have no connections) which I submitted to the category are still waiting, such hard work to keep directory updated....

Ah, Ivan, you're no fun. I wanted to flatter myself being enemy #1. I guess we're just going to have to arm-wrestle each other for the prize. Along with gworld, popo, minstrel, etc.

Nah, Annie is #1 just look how long it took them to falsify enough evidence to remove her. ;)

A yellow tag does not mean do not list. It means take care to review the site carefully, be cautious. If bldarter wanted to ban those sites he would have red tagged them. There are numerous reasons why you might yellow tag and one of those is to identify sites with a common ownership to ensure that one does not end up as a mirror of the other.

Without sight of the reasons for the removal it isn't possible to give an opinion as to whether the removal was legitimate or not but it is true to say that a removed editors' own sites will be particularly subject to scrutiny and possibly judged more harshly than others on the same subject. Since an Admin could easily ban/red tag a site without being questioned, the fact that it is yellow, indicating that the sites can be listed when next reviewed if the content looks up to scratch, indicates that there isn't a vendetta.

As a matter of course I routinely red and yellow tagged domains with which I was associated myself to prevent other editors accidentally listing them and embarrassing me. A bit naive in some respects given the prolific listing of a certain Adult meta of her own pages but I would rather sleep with a clear conscience.

In light of the fact that said admin also deleted several links from these websites, on the same day he yellow-tagged them, I rather believe that I was singled out for special treatment! While I agree that a yellow-tag means a site *can* be listed, the fact that he accompanied the yellow-tagging with a few deletions of the same domains is suspicious.

There is no reason given for the yellow tag. I suppose it was lost in the crash.

We could, only the judge would declare that DMOZ no longer serves a purpose, and it would be impossible for us to prove damages!!!
