so, i keep getting these DMCA notices via my google webmaster tools and they are killing my traffic. If i use a host outside USA, can i get rid of this problem so my content gets indexed without problems?
Google is a US company that must honor DMCA notices. The solution is simple, don't put copyright infringing content on the pages or live with the de-indexing and possible lawsuit.
i assume you're not related to social networks. I run one, i don't put the content, my users does. I cannot handle the content if there's 22k new pages everyday. i don't handle ilegal materials. The forum has rules, and i try to keep it really really clean.
If you want those urls indexed, you should either have a system in place so that people can reported copyright violations even if you are not from the US or hosted in the US. Youtube has a system in place to remove copyrighted material. In one DMCA filing from Viacom, they removed 100,000 violations in a single day. Google removes the urls from their index to legally protect themselves and there is no magic way around it.
i get it. But the problem is i'm not hosting any copyrighted material in my website. Just links to hosts like rapidshare, megaupload, so on.
There is nothing you can do about it.Google will block URL's for their own protection.Basically you link to copyrighted material and google links to you.
wasn't there some insane ruling recently where even hosting LINKS to copyright-infringements was deemed to be infringing? Has it been overturned yet?
