Distribution of Games Trailers, Demos, Movie Trailers - Legal or Not?

    Hi guys,

As mentioned in the title, I seriously wonder is that legal to, let say upload game trailers, game demos, movie trailers and similar stuff like patches from producers; addons, mods from fans (absolutely no cr@ck) and share with others?

More typically how about uploading those stuff to file hosting providers like Rapidshare and Megaupload and share the links, are they considered "copyrighted materials" to be prohibited by those companies?

    Thanks a million!

I imagine it's legal, since the companies who created the content are getting free advertising and don't lose money by your distributing it.

Techinically you need the companies permission because they have the rights to the content, doesn't matter that it's promotional material. Most will allow you to use the content though because it promotes their product/site for free.
