discussion forum sig links vs blog links and other

I am currently employing a link builder who follows my instruction to build links for my sites, i would like opinions please on the best way to get links approved and which hold more value in Google.

Do sig links in forums have the same link value as a comment in a blog?
should we look at link exchange instead?

I would appreciate your experiences and opinions :)

a link is a link really - where it is found isn't quite as important as the page pr value or the amount of traffic that the page gets.

The higher the pr value + traffic count, the more likely your site will get crawled (which is awesome) and increase your page rank count (which lets you jump higher in the serps!)

A blog comment is better, as the link is PART of the content... assuming there is content ;) If it's just a link, then it's worse then a sig link, as it adds NOTHING to anything concerned.

A link IN a forum post can generate more traffic, as more people have a tendency to read forums then blogs, at least more people care about my forum then my blog, lol *smirk*

Either way, a link within content is better then a link at the end of the content which is still better then just a link....if ya can follow that. So there are several factors which need to be discussed when one is saying which of the two is better.

Some factors in my mind would be: content relevance, keyword relevance (are your keywords similar to the websites topics) and the popularity of site in which you are putting your comment on.

I believe you should build links on content with an internal PR.

It is more likely that a blog will have a inner PR thus being recognized as quality content. I would focus on that if you plan to blog comment and comment on relevant blogs to your topic. Not all blogs will have inner PR, but try to strive for that.

It can go either way, so I would suggest to do both.

Signature link and blog comment link is same. Just ensure they are quality link.
Link exchange is good but need to be careful, bad neighbour will harm your PR.

There is a far more quick and efficient way to build IBL's nowadays then paying someone to do it.

I do a little of both and have seen tremendous success, so I would recommend do do both. Try to find do follow blogs with commentluv enable, so you get the anchor text in.

    thanks everyone, mixed views then.

I guess i will keep doing both.

A link is a link if they are on an authority website..this means not getting links from sites that are most likely to become redirected or become a parked domain. Forum sigs from high traffic quality forums such as this one will help your SERPS. Blog commenting will as well, but 90% of the time the comments get deleted or the blog gets closed down. Article marketing is also pretty reliable, then directories.
