And thoughts on the value of disaster.com? And the best approach to leasing (preferably) or selling it?

    Thanks!

Really great name, wouldn't put a price tag on it but you can put it to premium auction on the usual channels. Can't imagine you don't know what these are unless you have inherited this domain. Otherwise ask again. Good luck.

Thanks all. We didn't inherit this domain - we actually registered it in 1994 since our organization specialized in disaster recovery services. Our initial thoughts, after some discussions with large companies, actually place the value of this domain in the $xxx, xxx to low $x,xxx, xxx area. We would like to use an auction organization to deal with the auction/sale of the domain, but the amounts charged are enormous. A few questions: 1) Can you generally negotiate the percentage with the auction organization? What percentage is reasonable for a sale of this size?, 2) Are there any do-it-yourself sites for organizing a domain auction? Our lawyers are drafting up a transfer agreement, but I can't seem to find any information on T&C's and auction format information to send out to bidders (which would be part of the value proposition of using a firm). Any suggestions on minimizing the auctions costs but maintaining a win-win opportunity for both us and the auction company would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Great domain! I could see it fetching in the low-mid $xxx, xxx figures and possibly more. As far as negotiating a percentage for the sale, I have not heard of this before, but I am sure that an auction house would be willing to make a discount for the sale of such a premium domain, wouldn't hurt to ask. I would definitely approach some end users on your own, or hire a domain broker to take care of the sale for you. You would not have to necessarily auction it, you could also hire a broker to try and fetch the sales figure that you desire. Hope that helps ;)

great one word domain and i feel that the current market would fetch about $xx,xxx to high $xx,xxx.

Keep it a few more years and your looking at low $xxx, xxx

I was thinking $xx,xxx. I highly doubt you could get a million dollars for it.. or even a half million. I'd be surprised if you could get even $100,000 for it to be honest... I've seen single word domain names being sold for a few thousand dollars to $75,000

I also think that this is not a million dollar name. Why? It does not represent an ecommerce option.. Sure you can develop it and get a lot of visitors to the site but the fact is that it can not be monetized to the amount that it would justify a price tag in the $x,xxx, xxx range and not even in the mid $xxx, xxx for that matter.. Whats the traffic like? That also plays an important factor in its pricing.
