I recently went and deleted just about all the duplicate content posts on my free classified ads site http://www.jihoy.com. Then I find myself completely disappearing off SERP. Could it be that Google bot got confused? Those duplicate ads postings by users are roughly 5% of total site's content. Not sure what's going on.
i was face this problem. but after some time you will back your SERP rank. it may be change keyword density of keywords after you delete post or some link will remove which is support to your SERP. this two reason may be possible as per my experience. but after some time you will get SERP rank back so don't worry about it.
ekajanabee4u, thanks for letting me know. I thought I got hit by Google penalty, but recovered after about a week last time after I deleted about 100 ads off my site. I deleted another 150 ads today off my free classified ads site, so I am probably going to get hit again. I think Googlebot just need some time to sort it out, and hopefully new contents will offset the losses and bring back SERP.
I met the same situation, after some days it came back to my old position but do not stop the link building.
Thanks for confirming that, kutekutta. I thought I got banned and filed an reinclusion request. But after having it happen to me twice in such a short time, I think Googlebot is just confused. I will continue to add links and build more contents to my site.
Its basically because of the Google Dance. You must not worry. As you will regain your position in some time. Regards
sumit1710, I thought Google might frown a bit on duplicate contents. So people posting the same ads like 10 times on my site is bad (both for Google and users) Actually, I think Google applies the same rule with duplicate inside and outside of a site, in which they stack page rank and SERP score onto the most authorative page of all the duplicates. And with deletion of about 150 posts just makes my site disappear completely :-( I have built an article directory on my site, and I am going to post some articles, hopefully that will get me out of this slump. I hope this is just a temporily hiccup, not a Google penalty I don't know about.
Your site should recover, but in the long term you need some kind of filter to check when people are posting duplicate ads or you just dont approve the duplicates
Recently, after I modified the content of a page on one of my site, I lost some SERPs ranking, waited some days but never recovered the former spot. Now I'm going to restore the previous content and I'll se what will happen.
Yay! Just recovered. What I did was approve more articles into my article directory (more contents), and also bookmarked a few of them. Bookmarking can get your site updated very quickly!
Deleting the content may create these kind of scenario. But your site will be on SERP after some time.
