I've got a new cPanel WHM account that I'm moving all my clients sites, and all my own sites over to... Other than not being able to have email addresses for the domain, what are the disadvantages of using 'add on' domains to host all my own sites on 1 account?
I've got a crap load of domains that I'm not using - I figure it's better to put up a simple site as an "add on" than just let them sit around doing nothing.
I always thought that there was no way to setup mail for an addon domain. It doesn't really matter since most of my sites don't need it - but I'll check it out. Seems like good news for all my dormant domain anyway. Looks like I've got a few crappy 3 page websites to put together
You cannot generate a cpanel backup for that specific add domain only. Which is pretty usefull if you sell that site and domain in particular.
If you have the whm why to use addon domain. Now it is very cheap to have a reseller account. So create separate account for each domain and get the full control over it.
I have only 20 accounts in my WHM. I give my clients 1 account each, and will be hosting as many of my sites on the same account as I can manage. Someone want to tell me how to setup domain email for an addon account?
Same way you setup an email with your main domain. You will have a drop down menu to select the domain to associate with the name choosen.
the only disadvantage for addon domains for cpanel is that they are located as a folders under your main account and can be accessed directly via main site. For example, your addon domain is addddddomain.com to your main account blahblah.com. Then you can access it www . blahblah. com/addddddomain.com/
