Disabling right click and SEO

Hi, I am doing link building for a client and I just realized that all the site has this script:

    <script src="clickderecho.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    on the head section.

It seems to disable the right click function. I know this is less than effective to protect content but my concern was SEO. Could that line affect rankings? This affects usability and could be affecting how the search engine index the site but I am not sure.

Tell me if this has happened to you.

I don't think this would be a problem at all. Search engine spiders will not be able to run such a javascript file. Neither would they be able to right click. So they should have no problem.

It is true that this isn't a very effective way of protecting content. You may still want to convince your client about this. Real customers may still get annoyed that they can't save an image or do a simple text copy.

Nope, it more than probably will have nothing to do with the SEO or rankings because it's a built in and embedded on page factor.

It doesn't seem to affect your SEO efforts although it will frustrate your users a lot.
