Do words like "whore", "bitch", "slut", etc. in the domain name have a negative effect on SEO, in regards to sites that aren't porn related (friendwhore . com, spacewhore .com, for example)? Any ideas? Thx.
Ummm, well... Depends. Might be hard to get industry leaders to link to url's like: www.payday-loans-for-whores.com Also, if you plan on forum spamming family friendly forums then you might get the url obfuscated by a filter, making the links useless. But on the other hand it might make great link bait from the blogging community, especially if the url accurately decribed the website: How exactly were you thinking it might hurt? Some inherant search engine penalty based on profanity? If so, then no. There isn't one. -Michael
It's going to hurt precisely because people are less likely to link to a normal website on a spammy domain-name.
