    If that is the case, then why google or other search engines are not taking any action? They can remove that site. Still when one searches with list of directories that site comes up..

    I've seen google remove sites for the following reasons:

    Someone with clout asked them to. (copyright, defamatory, whatever)
    Hidden text in the HTML
    Google just did not like the site
    It was a directory or directory related in some way

    YMMV

    I am also using this directory list and agreed that they did not update. I have got hundred back links by using this free directories list. they are too helpful.
