    Hi folks,

Have not been back here for a while, many many reaons.

Anyway, have just built a paid inclusion diretcory with a difference.

A combination of pixel block advertising and directory inclusion.

Thought i would give it a go.

Wow. That's a quite expensive minimum for a brand new site (little traffic, no PR, etc.), especially for those in other countries that have a weaker currency. For example, it's nearly $60 for one directory listing in the US, as I understand it. Good luck; I hope it does well for you, but I think I will have to hold off and see it grow a bit first.

Does anyone think this pixel advertising is a long term option?

it is a pretty good idea, but i agree, the price seems a bit high at the moment.

Believe me when i say that i pondered the pricing issue myself.

If you look at the pixel advertising sites, they all seem to be charging 1 Dollar or pound etc, per pixel.

Compare that to mine then mine is much cheaper per pixel.

The fact that i will eventually host the graphics too has bearing.

Most of the ones I have seen charge $1 for 10x10 (100 pixels). Actually, all of those host the images too. :) Hey, it may well be worth it. At the higher price, you are linkly to get less links. So, the links that are there will count more than on the other sites that have hundreds of links. I don't know. Just seems like a hard way to go when just starting a brand new site.

oops my mistake, yes you are right about the 10x10 p-ixel price. I stand corrected.

As far as hosting the images, i belive that the image is placed on the grid and then the whole pixel block page is turned into one image. Hotspot linking is then done thru co-ordinates.
Some have been done in Flash as well.

I am actually hoping the price warrants the fact that a better image is shown and it is a directory style.

To be honest, i am confident enough to put the site up and will keep an open mind on the pricing too.

Good luck again. After a few months, post back here with an update for us. If you're getting good traffic and have a decent PR, I bet you will get a lot more takers too.
