Directory website design with more content in each listing

    Hello,

I am wanting to create a directory-ish website. I have looked at phpmydirectory, but the template is not what i want my website to look like. I want to have a standard homepage with catagories on the left, and a nice background and large description (as well as the option for ads). Once those catagories on the left are clicked, i would have sub directories and the listings under that. Each listing may just be a standard name and address, or it may have 3-4 good sized pictures, a description, and a map. The latter types of listings I want the option of having them preferred in each catagory.

What would be the best script/templates to use for this? I am going to host with justhost, but I do not have much website design experience.

    Thank you for any help.

Have you looked at phpLD they got some good templates and there are many more third party templates. the script is fully customizable and many mods can be added that is what i run for a directory and have a unique template. I like the script so much im going to start another directory here in a few weeks.

How about an original? take a paper and a pen, draw your structure, then hire a web designer.
If it is your business, it is worth!

Sounds like you should be talking with a web designer, if you have figured out how you want things setup and displayed and dont find a suitable template for that then you need to get one designed or modify and existing one.

There are some highly talented programmers that can accomplish what you need. Of course their time is not free. If you have a desire to go this route, PM me and I will put you into contact with those that can get the job done.
