humm... newbe! don't worry! start learning seo! and you will get better serps, traffic and PR! you can start from my seo faq! Note: it is an old thread, don't post anything there!
There are PR5 and above directories too. It's easy to get a PR, just get backlinks.. But maintaining a quality directory and its PR later is a challenging task. Google has taken major steps against directories lately and so you have to work out wisely. The thread which i gave you in the last post has a load of resources that will help you out.
still no one want to sumit his link to my website?? why?? I am very coufused about that. how to change it? I will give him some fee to let them add. is that only way ?? help me.
What puzzles me and not personal is how people start a directory then only afterwards ask questions on why it does not work. Can i ask how old is the directory ? what if any background study you done ? why was it started in the first place ? It is things like this that only add to the overall dis array in directories, and offer little to no consumer knowledge. It is not dis similar to giving people the keys to a army tank letting them loose in it then have then yell out how do i steer it and what does this button do?, a dangerous combination at best. It would be best before posting 100 cries for help, ( which is good ) to quietly sit and spend a few weeks reading everything you can in this forum, making notes of articles that can help you. Once completed you will have a better understanding to then come back and ask specific questions in relation to your needs. Running around in a tither while driving this tank is not helping you. turn it of , park it read the instructions then get back in and drive it.
And submit it to other directories. Kind of makes you wonder where the directory at the end of that chain (directories submitting to directories) is.
hm... first you ask a general question about PR. And after a couple of answers you say you are dissapointed by the number of submissions. Are you sure you are in the right thread ? Maybe try "Announcement" When I take a look at your directory I can say : 1) It looks nice and well-build, so that's not the problem. 2) A business directory is a niche directory (just like mine). Don't expect massive submissions in the beginning... you are looking for quality (I hope) and not for crapsubmissions like all directoryowners of general directories have to deal with. 3) Like downunder said...why did you start this directory ? Do you hope to get rich the easy way ? If that's the reason...think again. 4) If your trying to become an authority in your niche...promote your directory in that niche and not only on webmaster-related forums. 5) The authority thing : when you come accross a site that is worth to be added in your directory...add it yourself and tell it to the owner of the website. I call this indirect promotion and sometimes the website owner will promote your directory to thank you. (don't try this with the big wellknown sites...it's useless ) 6) A high PR is nice...but will not bring you any more visitor. 7) Talking visitor : Think to yourself...when a visitor visits my website, does he find added-value ? Or just the same listings as everywhere else or through searchengines ? 8) Start partnerships with related directoryowners or businesses... and keep in mind what added value it will bring to your visitor when he visit your partners. 9) Create a contact-page. Don't assume non-webmasters know what a directory is and how the submission process works... I often add a link after been contacted through my contactpage. The owner of the website (not the webmaster) want to add his site to my directory but didn't figure out how to do... you will be surprised how big the non-webmaster-world is out there 10) Sometimes... when an added listing is really worthfull... take the time to contact the submitter in a more personal way. Send him an email to thank him and congratulate him about his site... don't always leave it to those automated processes... ... and I have other hints like that. But after all... always think at what you want to archieve with your directory. If it's just to have one... please stop it. The web is already poluted with useless stuff...
U could start with getting ur site listed in some good directory lists. For example http://www.directoryjunction.com/specialty-directories/
Your one of the many who thinks building a directory will attract traffic and submitters. Build it and they will come never works! You need to learn marketing, advertising and have money to do it with.
Stoner is right, I used to have nice PR5 directory that people never came until I promoted it on a forum or something. Marketing is just as important as link building and SEO (IMO)
