Directory submission if done manually to B2B or local directories then it is worth as per my own experience. There is no harm is using tool also as, there are some tools that are easy to use and provide you fast submissions with approvals. I am using one tool that gives eight submissions in 1 min and the tool is free to use One can even work manually with the use of tool. I am getting postie results by using that tool and it is worth in use.

if you use automated directory submission method, you will not get much benefits. Manual submission method is much better that any automated submission.

If you are really honest towards your work... spend some time for doing it. A software has not such wits as human brain has.
submit to authority directories and niche directories is much better. I don't think you should submit to many directories, so the software is not needed.
You get a lot of people on hear saying 'don't use software, manual is better' but you'll note they never, ever quantify why manual is 'better'. There's a perfectly good reason for that - it's not better to do it manually, but for some reason the message of 'manual is better' is continually regurgitated on here for no good reason at all. I use SubmitEaze, which is software, day-in, day-out and it works brilliantly. I get Emails telling me my submissions have been received and accepted, so, how would doing it manually have been any better? You tell me. All I know is, if I were to do it manually it would take up days of my time, if I use SubmitEaze then I get in done with the click of a button. So, I know perfectly well which is 'better'. If you're thinking of going down the software route then I can highly recommend submiteaze, for the price they charge it's an absolute bargain.
