We do not submit to directories who want reciprocal links, but that is by choice if you are starting a new directory then a few recips will maybe be useful

It is up to the individual to decide on recips it is an option :)

Yes some times it may be useful

when you submit to high PR directories that it is

if you do not hvae money to pay for a inclusion in a directory like mine in my signature you can simply submit your site with a reciprocal link to directory

For this you can create a separate link page like links.php

Don't waste your time unless the directory is http://dir.yahoo.com or ODP.

Just submit to the directories which are REALLY free..Here's a list:http://www.addurl.nu/

I normally stay away from reciprocal links from directories too... They do not help much in SERP.. i think :)

Maybe not much.. but they do help some.. So if you have time left to submit to those also, then why not do it?

It is up to you, but the best advice for that is look for more directories that does not require reciprocal links.

You have to make a decision on each directory, whether it is worth the time even submitting to it or not.

If it is a high PR directory, and they want a reciprocal, then evaluate the site, and see where your link will be from.

Remember, linking to a high PR website, is not a bad idea - if it is a high PR, and even if they do not link to you.

I would advise against too many reciprocal links. There is a fine balance between submitting your site to directories to achieve a high PR and devaluing your PR value by having too many low PR links on your site. Tread carefully. I never reciprocal link to any directory.

I don't give reciprocal link to directories unless it has high PR.

I have criteria in choosing site to link exchange with

    The site has high PR
    Has many quality backlinks
The site must be related to my site

    Those are good advices.

But do you really spend the time to evaluate if a site has quality backlinks or not? Does that not take a lot of time where you instead could submit to more directories?

Yes I spend time to evaluate those links. Mostly I don't link exchange to directories. But I submit my site to a lot of directories which do not require reciprocal link.

I agree, that it is not good to create reprocal links for directories. It is alot of free directories without necessity to add reciprocal link.
