Directory Submissions?

Discussion in 'Google' started by kiteguy123, Dec 26, 2008.

    Hi.
I've recently started making blogs to earn some money, and now I want to drive as much traffic and increase my PR, so that when I come to sell it on it's worth more.

    So, where's this going?

Well, I wanted to ask whether sumbitting my site to web directories will cause my site to get penalised by Google? I mean, will they take my site off their list?

    Thanks!

Submitting to directories will not penalise your blogs. If it did then anyone could sabotage their competitors by submitting the competitor sites to directories.

Your site will not get penalised for directory submissions. I would suggest doing some research on the directories your submitting to. It will keep you from submitting to directories that are no longer looked after.

Directories should only be one of your methods to drive traffic and build links. Article marketing, blog commenting and forum posting can also build your traffic and links.

No, they won't penalize for directory submission. For a precaution, just make sure that the submission doesn't get done one shot in a day and appears like a robot spam.

Google has devalued backlinks from many directories however, you will not
get penalized for submitting your site to directories.

To drive traffic to your blog, you will have to write your own articles and publish them which links to your blog. Instead of directory submission, I prefer article & forum posting which will drag more hits to your website. Have more links on your landing page that too will get attracted by search engines.

I think social bookmarking shows better results than directory submissions.

Submitting to directory is not harm to the site and also will not get any negative impression from Google. But very difficult to get Bl from directory. And if get also the quality will be very bad bcz the link will be from the very inner pages. So instead of wasting time on it better do forum positn to get some good BL

Directory submission is the great way to get free back link. It's also google friendly. No worry about penalized. You can do it

You wont get penalised but i doubt it will drive much traffic. go for unique titles and descriptions when you submit and always submit manually.

Only directories charging for pagerank usually get penalized, so don't pay for pagerank

I think he means that if you pay to be listed on a directory because of the PR the directory has, that will get you penalised.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, adding reps now. :)

I'm saying the directories will loose pr. I've seen it done so many times. for how they advertise the sites page rank and thats the reason for paying for a listing. people pay, and google gives them like a n/a or 0 for pr and now the link people have bought for the directory is nothing, I've seen directories charging lots of money
