the matter to be taken into consideration while submitting to directories are:- 1.Check the page rank of the direcotry. 2.If page rank is zero then see whether it is indexed or not. 3.see the most appropriate and relevant category to submit. Chances of approvals are higher if we submit it in the most relvant and accurate cateogry. 4.Do manual submissions. Automated submission tools are not much reliable.
Always manual submission is the best, because automated submission is fast and get you flagged in the eyes of SE's.
No, it won't get you flagged by any se. You got to remember, automatic submission to directories in any number does not mean you got into the directory right away. Just like manual submission, it will be days to months before your site is reviewed and either accepted or deleted. You submit automatically to 265 sites, you submit manualy to the same number...you will get the same results.
I agree with 'iowadawg'. that's the point! no matter how many links/articles you submit (as long as it is not billions, just what we saw in some cases before), SE will not notice the timing. because SE will NOT get the page at the same time! depends on the sites, the time SE crawles the link varies a lot. as long as auto submission submit to the right category, what's the difference between auto submission and manual submission? temp
1) You don't read the submission guidelines, which vary subtly from one directory to another 2) You don't fill in all the right fields 3) You don't get past the captcha test So in general, expect a much lower acceptance rate if you use automatic submission software. It's not just about getting your site in the right category.
even if its zero pr, its one more link to your website. (so as long as the directory has not been banned by the search engines, its still good!)
1. if you use manual submission service, will you read guidelines? will the service provider read guidelines? will they change your anchor based on guidelines? if you just follow general guideline, most directories will not reject your site because of their guideline. 2. what if software can fill in the right information for right fields? 3. there are so many directories (at least thousands), many of them do not have captcha. my point is: auto submission does its job and it works. it saves tons of times and $$$. temp
That depends on who is doing the submitting, and that's why, if you pay someone, you need to hire a reputable submitter. It rarely can. Most auto-submission software relies on looking for standard input fields, and just sticks keywords in anything it doesn't recognise. I'm not saying auto submission is entirely ineffective, just that it's not as good as manual. You have to choose between speed and getting the most links.
I never used any automatic directory submission tool. Is it possible to submit in relevent category/subcategory with these tools?
Sort of, to some of them. There are a number of PhpLD directories that use the same, or very similar, category structures. And there is at least one tool out there that allows you to submit to the correct category in their directory list. But this list won't work with all the directories that are available.
I do preffer manual submissions only as the robots on the site dont take the automatic submissions some times.
I do directories submission for a long time. Based on my experience, you can get a much higher acceptance rate if you use manual directory submission.
I know of one that you can, but that's because I personally checked every relevant category and subcategory from each directory when I wrote it. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the software that uses standard input fields or category structures, but I know it can be possible to do autosubmission correctly. It just takes a bit more time up front when you're developing the software, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
There is at least one another thread talking about manual vs. automated. Based on my experience. I had higher acceptance from automated submission than manual submission. I was surprised by the results as I was a skeptic about automated submissions until I used it. So, I suggest trying automated submissions on one of your sites and see the results for yourself. Will be interesting to see the results from people who used both submissions.
