Directory Submissions?

I pretty new to this whole thing. I have had a blog up for some time now. I currently don't have any kind of recip links to anything on my site and it's doing about 300 uniques daily.

I'm wondering how other people submit their links to all of these free link directories when I don't see any recip links on their sites. I know all of these people can't be paying for spots on all these submission sites right?

Am I missing something maybe? I was thinking recip links can go on a separate page that doesn't contain a link that's too visible on the front page maybe?

What is the cleanest way to being honest with putting recips on your site, while allow yourself to get accepted in most link directories?

    Thank you.

There is a lot of directories that are open free of charge without the need for reciprocals. Normally I submit to those as it isn't really easy keeping track on reciprocal links.

wisdomtool is right as almost all the directories have a reciprocal link box on their "add link" page but it is not mandatory at most of the times.
Also it wouldn't be beneficial to give back link to a directory.

Definitely not! It does play a part in SEO, but it isn't really an important part and especially not the main pat of SEO. The main part of SEO is simply good and original contents.

Here is a list of free directories. There are a couple of thousand directories listed that don't require a reciprocal link. If your time is limited then here is another site that has rankings of the top free directories.

Check my sig for another list of free directories. None of them require a reciprocal. You can use the search on the site to narrow the list to just general directories or directories in your niche. When you submit to the directories be sure to use variations of your target keywords for the anchor text (most directories call it "Title"). This will help you rank higher in the SERPs for those keywords.

    Hello...

Theres many free directories that come out daily and the main stratagy is trying to get in them before they turned paid ect ect.

Offering a recip is your choice really and if you want to throw a small link in the footer that takes them to the directories or links
then great BUT in most cases id rather not deal with recips and just submit to directories that are FREE or some decent paid directories
that you know have been around for a while and will continue to be around a few years down the road.

Niche directories i would give a reciprocal (if i wanted to be in that directory bad enough) as i know that the visitors i do get
would find the Link page/resources they seek easier and possibly help them find what they are searching for.

    thx

Lots of free directories out there (no reciprocal needed)

If you want more links then reciprocal directories with a links page on your site will be the way to go !!!

This is really not a place just to post to show off your sig, there are better ways to promote your own site than through such ways which I don't think the Mods will look upon favorably.

Thanks for all the input guys! Very useful stuff on here and I learned there are tons of directories out there that don't provide a recip. It was my understanding there was only a very few not to submit too. Looks like I got an whole days worth of submitting to do. :)

I used to submit adult galleries to hundreds and thousands of TGP's. Glad I kept the software for this stuff. This way I can just load the list of directory sites and fill in the fields by hand and continue.

    Thanks again!

i've had no luck with directories. they suck in my opinion.

reciprical link required or not, your traffic will still be minimal.

example: submit to 200 directories, get 200 uniques (in 1 month)

thats like 5-7 uniques a day.

guess it depends on a lot though. heh.

Definitely not worth it man. I never had any luck with them in the past in my Adult sites either. I think my time is better off spent submitting DoFollow blogs, and participating in DoFollow forums.

Dir. submissions are usually done for getting backlinks not for traffic, There are very few dirs. left which still delivers traffic, else the job of directory is reamined to provide backlinks.

Yeah I get that, but the only ones that will list you want a recip, or so low in PR, it's nor worth your time.

There may be the 1-5 exceptions, but that's it unless someone else can prove me wrong?

And these are all submitted by hand? No auto submissions tools involved?
