Hi, I know that ideally you should manually submit to the directories, and up to now I have been, but I several sites to submit and just don't have the time to submit to thousands of directories one by one, it will take forever. Does anyone have any suggestions, I know there is software out there to do it, but I read that some directories penalise you for this method. Also I see people offering to do this all manually for very small prices i.e sometimes as little as $10, now without meaning to sound negative how can they spend all that time for next to nothing, and how do you know they are actually doing it manually? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks Dee
I think what you would be best to go for is something in between. Its understandable that you dont have enough time for submissions, personally i would advise against the softwares, similarly i would advise against the "too cheap to be good" submission services, what i would do in your position is find one of the people on dp who offer submission services at a fair price, dont pay through the nose for it but some sort of middle price that tells you that they will actually fulfill the job to a reasonable degree. I dont know whos ideal but others here do, im sure they will come forward and suggest some people.
for business only, submit to yahoo and business dot com directory is enough, or you can go to the trade service forum, loads of free people have free time to help you, but beware you might probably waste money, special some directory submission companies.
Slow and steady wins the race. Set aside some time each day or even just once a week for directory submission and gaining backlinks. There's no rule that says you have to submit to every directory out there. Keep a spreadsheet of your submissions. Keep track of the descriptions you have already written and how long they are as different directories have different requirements. Do the same for meta description and keywords as more and more directories are also providing that information. That way you can simply cut and paste the repetitive parts and it allows you to keep track of how many times you've submitted the same description and when it's time to modify it or write a new one. I see professional directory submissions all the time on my crafting directory for sites that have nothing to do with arts and crafts and would never be accepted - each of those submissions were included in the fees. This is a big part of why you won't find many directory owners with good things to say about the submission services as we see how badly they are ripping people off. Unfortunately, the better services are unknown to many of us because when done properly we can't tell the actual owner didn't do the submitting. There was a fellow around here that had earned a fairly good reputation for providing an honest service but I don't remember who it was or if they are even doing it anymore.
