If I were to have the following things.

    Article submissions.
    Blog comments.
    Blog backlinks
    Directory submissions.

What kind of weight would each of these carry?

I'd prefer unique article submissions and blog reviews personally. I'd submit to paid directories too, the free ones usually aren't worth bothering with.

10 paid directories may be more expensive, but will probably give just as good, if not better than 1000 links in crappy free dirs.

Agree. The weight a backlink depends on the pagerank of the page, not whether it's a directory, blog, press release, etc.

Huge weight man. Now one can carry it except Google:D. These four points are only the roots that SEO are using basically. Contents, landing page also included.
