The search result mentioned on that post is just based on UK search with a keyword with less competition for a .uk domain hence that result. It could have been achieved with a single-strong-sitewide link too. Anything extra ordinary there! ---------- I have personally know this fact for long that directory submissions work, but again no one is willing to let out the method in which it works. I do have a site from 2005 living on directory submissions and ranking on Pg.1 anywhere between 1 and 5. Directory submissions are like steroids if taken properly it helps in body building, just a small overdose can ruin you and your body.
Great quote. I agree. There may be better links around, but directory links are usually easier to get.
I heard that Angela - profile backlining pioneer opposes directory submission... but I am confused about this.
If you are talking about angelas backlinks dot com, then of course they'll oppose directory submission. They make their money charging you 10 times what you can easily do yourself.
Submitting sites to directories is still a good way to get links back to your site, ranking it as well. And yes, if your link is listed in quality directories with Higher Google PR ( page rank 3 and above), even better. What I've noticed so, Website Directory Owners, use this fact and often charge astronomical fees for having just one site listed, or for just one crummy link back. Otherwise, when your link is free of charge, they often (not always) demand a reciprocal link on your site, linking back to their directory. Directories call this quality control to assure that they have only the best sites listed. I call it plain ignorant and would never pay more than 10 American dollars for a one way link from their site to mine, unless the directory is DMZO
Directory submission is an important part of the link building strategy, but it's not the only one. Also, it's not worth to waste time submitting to lots of poor directories.
thanks for sharing a good link.......i also know that thsi is on of the good process for any site for off page SEO. Thanks.
Yes, directory submission still work but it is not sufficient for first page position in top search engines.
