from what i have seen, if you dont pay for the spots, you will never make it in the directory. Alot of the directories have 100,000k+ pending sites awaiting approval
Yes. Having your site listed with 5-9 quality directories is very beneficial. IMHO, every site should be in at least 3 quality directories, even if that means paying. It is especially important for new sites. I believe that G uses category listings as one way to confirm what it knows about a site's topic. If based on your content and anchor text G concludes that your site is about travel, and then sees that 5 well trusted human edited directories have also categorized it in travel, G is is more likely to let your site rise higher in SERPs related to travel. See?
It doesn't hurt, and it 'still works' -- so I suppose the answer to your question is yes. I wouldn't pay for directory links, though...
there are directories for free that gives instant live links.. though it is tough to find.. but directory submission is still one of the tools that are effective if you want to get a rank.. you just have to be patient with it..
Still many marketers uses directory submissions since it is still effective though free directories takes more time to review before it will be approved but patient is one of the virtue in SEO. There are some paid directories that eventually give instant link and other try reciprocal linking as well.
I would like to say big yes for directories. I am doing directory submissions for my site and i find links of directories in webmaster tool also.
Hi, Generally speaking, directory submission would not work for SERP purpose since you could not setup your anchor text when submitting. Of course, you might expect some traffics from this method when on some hot niche relative directories. all the best,
Links through directories are useful, there is no doubt. But it is hard to get links from there, because they don't approve links easily. Some directories approve after 3-4 months of period.
I think there are good and bad directories out just like anything else.its take time to find reputable ones and also for the purpose you are using them for traffic or seo.
Yes directories as a strategy to help build link popularity. But its takes some time for approve link.
I dont think directories submission still working, as it used to be in the does days. Google are not interested in directories link any more, unless some good directories that is recognized by Google.
Absolutely wrong, i am doing dir. submissions since last two years and i see no change in the way google treats it. My clients are still as happy as ever. If you're saying it won't work then it also depends on the way of submission you carry and dirs. you choose.
I think directory submissions is one of the best ways to get the backlinks and to improve the rankings. Submit in quality directories. It helps in the stability of the rankings in SERP's.
