Quality Directories are very effective i tell you how if you use your website different pages different long tail keywords and different article about your website and then submit your link on best web directories afterward you will get authority backlinks and good traffic but remember this result will come slowly when your website links approved. Few things are still effective but if we use right way. Hope you like it. Thanks
It helps if you don't abuse by submitting same anchor in every directory. There is no faster and shorter way to gain SERP.
This year directory submission is one of the SEO tends which most bloggers are getting to comply with in order to enhance the efficiency of their blogs. In my opinion, directory submissions in SEO can ensure thta one's blog attains visibility to the audience beyond the blogger's closest blogging associates. Together with the visibility, a blogger is entitled to other benefits such as acquiring quality and safe backlinks which if well utilized are bound to make the blog rankings be on a constant rise. And the other benefit that a blogger reaps from directory submission is obtaining a chance to have review requests and paid post opportunities.
I would only submit to a few niche directories as part of link strategy these days, and not the poor quality ones either. Most of them will do more harm than good for your rankings.
No directory submission is a complete waste of time. It was effective about 5 years ago but not anymore. Focus on other traffic strategies that will get you better results, eg social media marketing, PPC advertising (google, bing and facebook) and create high quality unique content that people love!
I have a small niche directory. Here are statistics: Links: 22 000, clicks 233 000. Directory generates traffic to other sites.
Can you support your "statement" with some facts? Right, friend of mine never uses Internet to promote his business. All he does is buying ads in local news papers, TV and radio and his business is prospers. So, as you can see he doesn't use SM but guess what... he never would dream to deny its usefulness. Maybe directories like your but not our. If I was you, i would shutdown your directory long time ago. Who told you that? Don't tell me, let me guess... hmmm... Google? One can argue that making stupid and useless posts is waste of time, and yet, here you are making post, arguing, claiming to be an expert. fastreplies
I still submit my sites to directories only because I am use to do it but I don't think I have ever since any traffic from them.
"Directory submission never been effective", It is/was/will be effective only if advertiser's site get listed/approved in the directory.
Niche sector directories (or any niche site) has good benefits due to the targeted sector traffic as its audience. These directories have their own usage - users that want a type of information eg: Travel companies contact details. Using directories for link dropping Directories hate this practise, they hate SEO agencies with a passion and will guard/secure their websites with (CMS) Content Management Systems with plug-in software, so the days of spam by direct/in-direct means died 10 years ago. Your only route into anything of quality is by payment only. B2b/B2c General/All Purpose Directories The B2b/B2c general website sector is dead, with just a few or so brands eg: Yell, Thomson types, clinging on desperately for survival. Reed Business sold off all its directory properties including the huge KellySearch b2b directory, where they spent over 1 million pounds promoting it yearly, this was preceded by Microsofts SBD, Zeal and a few others like The Arndale, Arrdvark etc all died for various reasons, thus demonstrating the difficulty of remaining in an untargeted advertising world, as what once worked for decades many years ago - no longer works in todays highly focussed driven world. Niche Sector/Specialty sites The only options online are Search Engines and Niche vortals - and these will want payment, there's no way around it, as any free element is so limited, that decent exposure must be paid - for the chance of any benefit to happen.
Hi Alice, I think if you choose good paid or free niche directories of high page authority, then it will definitely help to gain traffic. But first read all the Google updates carefully and then take any further action on link building.
Too technical for most and a domain url won't ever, ever tell you how much traffic websites get - for this you need to contact the owners and get proof.
I would say a directory just for a directory sake just to have a link exists is not that valuable. If its a directory that people are using or people are going to who have the need to get to your site then Yes of course. For example any local establishment you want to be on all local directories so that when people are searching for what is in your area you can be associated with it. But to exist on some list in India where you have no business nor site visitors are even looking for your services there, not worth it.
