    just reporting my noob lessons....

paid 15 bucks to get my site submitted to 100 directories. my traffic went up zilch. however, the social bookmarking site, increased my traffic just a tad. maybe my description wasnt good enough. however, about 75 percent of my traffic is coming organically which is best i believe.

so to all thinking about paying someone to submit your site to directories over in the services forum, i personally think its worthless.

    $15 lol...

What did you expect for $15?

Plus was it the traffic you looking for or the ranking as I don't when you got listed but it takes time to index the link let alone count the value..

Most directories give little link juice vs other forms of linkage..

    hi baker101,

I think your even more of a noob than you think you are, sorry for being harsh. Are you really expecting traffic from directory submissions? $15 for 100 directory submission = 0.15 per directory, your more than likely going to be on page 100+ of free directories that will never even get cached never mind pass and link love or traffic. Lesson learnt, submit to quality directories there are loads of them around http://www.bigweblinks.com/ is an example of a quality directory.

in my opinion, "you will get what you pay" rule is a good rule for seo.

you can not do anythink with 15$:)

i know, i started learning seo, trafficking, marketing startegies 2 weeks ago. so far, its been an interesting experience. i guess for 15 bucks, maybe i was looking for a return of maybe, i dont know, 10 unique visitors from all 100 directories. ha! leasson well learned!

If you want to submit your site to directory and you pay for it, then the return traffic is not good. All I can say, you better submit your site to a free directory submission. There's a lot out there and you won't spend much money.

Yeah, most very cheap directory submission services use autosubmitters, and that's no good.

However some of us do offer directory submission services where all submissions are done by hand to relevant categories in quality directories...not all directory submission services are alike ~

    hello...

I have to agree that $15 bucks would have been better spent had you went down and bought a six pack off beer and a couple burgers..

If your serious about your website reaching Top spots in most engines then you would have spent much much more and i would have done a combination
off submissions to free directories, Paid review directories, article directories, social bookmarks, and others with at least a few grand in promotion...

PS did you even recieve any reports of where they submitted your sites?

    thx

The amount of acceptances for the free directory submissions will depend on the quality of the directory list that the submitter has compiled.

The free directories are constantly switching to paid so the list will have to be constanly updated for a high amount of submissions to succeed.

thats why most smart submission companies only use vilesilencer list and directory critic list as they are always up to date...

But i concur that many of these guys are using last years list and many have indeed gone paid...

    thx

Here's another free directory list that's constantly updated (at least every week or so):
    http://www.quantawebdesign.com/tips/directories.html

It is actually more selective than vilesilencer's list & only lists directories with PR & that adhere to our quality guidelines.

Our directory submissions list is based upon the one shown at the link above, but is somewhat longer.

I imagine there will be big changes to the list after the PR export is finished, as some free directories go paid. However, those that are deleted from the list will be replaced with others we've been testing over the past several months.

    all best,
    Denise
