Hi, I'm wondering which URL for my site I should submit to directories. myshopname.com forwards to: cafepress.com/myshopname If I use the first will the directory approve a forwarded domain? I already know the second is a problem because it may look like a deep link or a duplicate submission.
Many directories won't autorise deep links, so your second URL will be rejected most of the time ... If the redirect from your 1stURL to the actual one is well done that should also transfer the PR so it's fine enough, and you will get the visitors anyway. If your SEO is a big deal then I would suggest that you take a proper domain name with no redirection since that's always a bit dodgy to handle that. HTH
I personally have declined listing sites that redirect. The only exception I allowed redirects or a deep link as the main listing URL is if it was for language purposes. myshopname.com/en for English is an example of something I would allow. Otherwise they need to purchase deep link submission review...
Thanks for the tips, sounds like my best bet is to try for the myshop.com and hope it gets approved rather then being automatically rejected if I used the subdirectory. w3bmaster, yes I know that is how things are supposed to be done but in this case that would be like submitting myspace.com to directories in the hope it would help my page - unlikely!
