Directory Submission Question

Discussion in 'Directories' started by SubmissionFC, Feb 19, 2010.

I have submitted my website to a few hundred directories, and my question is later on along the road If I decide to start submitting to more directories is there a way for me to know if I have already submitted to these directories or no?

I mean I don't want to waste my time submitting to directories that I am already listed in, and if I sit there and check every directory first it will take me even longer to do so.

    So any suggestions?

but is there a program available where you can add a list of directories to it and it automatically tells you which directories you are listed in?

That way it saves me a bunch of time!

True, most directories will prompt if your Web site has already been submitted in the same category whether approved or not. But there are some that won't tell you.

Submitting your Web site twice might cause suspicion from editors that you are spamming, thus might cause deletion of your listing if it's already listed or if it's in queue. It's the same with DMOZ, submitting our Web site twice will cause more harm than good, so some suggest to wait at least 6 months before resubmitting.

Thus I suggest take the time to check if your Web site is listed, after all, this procedure is one of the submission guidelines of some reputable directories out there.

And make a list of all directories where your site has been submitted and place the date, this will make things easy and it really helps.:)

I dont think there is a program that does that, your best bet is to paste the links of all directories you have submitted to in a document. Then u can just search. Or maybe list them in a alphabetical order.

better search in each directory whether the link exists or not or you submit.
or maintain an excel sheet and note down all the directories that you have submitted before.

There is no software for this!! But you can manage it easily, Make an Excel Sheet and place URL after submitting links on to it. When you have submitted few of them then you can track by using CTRL+F button and check the URL weather it is submitted or not. Thats it !! I am doing this thing from last 4 years.

Make an excel sheet and sort by name to check if the directory you are submitting to is already in your worksheet.

Well, most of the directory submitting sites gives a prompt of "already submitted" or "already exist in our directory list". if you face the problem than you should make a spreadsheet or maintain the status of your directory(submitted or not), now whenever you submit your dir check it out in this list by searching command.
