    There is some evidence that directory listings have been downgraded in recent changes to the Google algo.

    That said, there are certain niche directories that can be a good source of traffic.

    Target those that have high PRs.. Submitting to lots and lots of directories is only a waste of time because only a few of them will be approved.. If you want fast approval, choose their featured links options.. However, you just have to pay for them.. I have seen sites that was able to get lots of good backlinks from directories.. But when I looked at their submissions, most of them were paid..
