Directory submission is effective?

I just wanted to know if directory submission is effective technique of doing link building.

What technique are you using right now?

 

Directory Submission is still an effective way of getting backlinks. But it depends on the quality of a web directory. Like for example, if your site is locally based in Australia, getting links from authority Australian web directories is helpful to have a strong local presence.

 

yes @Seodash your are right.... it is effective when it gets link from relevant site....

 

From last four month i feel Directory Submission is not effective. Forum posting and some other activity they are holding some unique idea is more effective then other.

 

Doing directory submissions is the basic step of offpage activities and try to do submissions in niche directories.

 

directory listings still crawl, index and count by google as backlinks.. but it don't give that much weight when it comes to rankings..

 

With most of those directories are just set up for ads, many are just not valuable at all. Those truly human edited directories surely has something to give..

 

Depends on the directory of course.
If you submit to low quality directories then it won't help much. They are quite easy to spot, check some of the ads, check the FAQ, the requirements to submit and the quality of past submissions, if you see lots of non-updated ads (like page not found or so) then the directory is not worth it.
As long as the directory is good, submission is effective

 

yes, it is still very good way to build link. However, you need to go for those high quality directory, bulk submission doesnt work, choose only those quality directory

Directory submissions are very effective tool for every subject but you have to post in quality process like chose relevant category of the project.

 

Webhosting directory is still effective. It is a good place to create awareness and exposure to our brand. We cannot guarantee there is conversion rate from webhosting directory because there are few factors in order to get sales. At least, people knows our brand from the directory.

I think Directory Submission has still value for getting some handy links from them but it mainly depends upon the quality directories which should be good at submission. Submitting such collection of directories can only give the benefit. So its much better to get some good collection of directories rather than submitting in bulk and useless directories.

 

If you have a great site and user friendly content, then directory submission is still an effective way for get quality backlinks. if you do not , just skip it and do something else.

 

Yes why not.... ? It's not like that you cant rank your website high without directory submission but still it's a part of SEO and helps a lot in ranking your website. So why leave chance ? And it's easy to get back link's by submitting directory.

 

Directory submission are useful in link building but only the high page ranked directories. Better to avoid free directory submission as most the backlinks comes from poor sites.

 

All depends on the directories, but very fews have audience good enough to bring you something.

You want to do them but the don't way much.
and you want to find good relevant ones.
