    Yeah, directory submission has been so watered down I think you should do something like blog commenting or things along those lines. There is far more value in it now days.

    I would suggest article submission because I have seen the benefit myself and it works.Do not go for paid links and they have no value now so why not try some free article directory where you can easily make a submission and get a good backlink...
