I wasn't sure whether to post this in the SEO forum or here, but I'm sure it'll be moved accordingly.

When submitting your site to directories, is it best to change the description from time to time? In other word, do search engines penalise you if loads of your incoming links have the same text?

I would concentrate on perhaps half a dozen keywords in your link anchor text..and ya you can change it up now and again. If you look at the submission guidelines for most directories, most of them dont want you to keyword spam the title, so max 4 or 5 words, and make sure it sounds logical and legible, rather than just one keyword after another in no particular order.

That way your submissions have a better chance of getting reviewed. As a directory owner now i can tell you the links I approve first.

    1) Links with the good titles
    2) Links in the right category

If the link has to be edited in any way it gets pushed to the back of the pile and im sure a lot of directory owners are the same.
